Trump’s Suddenly High-Stakes State of the Union The president is visiting Congress in a dramatically different place from where he was a year ago.

“But there’s a problem with the idea that Trump can simply rerun his 2024 campaign and expect the same result: Over the past two years, many of his most popular issues have turned into political liabilities” www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

“When anyone asks me about the Irish character, I say look at the trees. Maimed, stark and misshapen, but ferociously tenacious.”

Having forgotten my tools back home, I was left to forage for a drawing tool at the local food hall. The result: this Skewer & Ink drawing from the #Gdansk Shipyard in Poland. @risd1877.bsky.social

Making visual interest is far from formulaic, but there are some principles worth considering for illustrators.

Consider combining the ordinary and the extraordinary. Aim to get the viewer to participate in your image - to think about it - all by design. #illlustration

Lucky Teacher to have such amazing students. In the past seven years, five Caldecott Honor winners have been former students. (They've had plenty of other great teachers, too!)
This year's winner is Gracey Zhang!
Congratulations to all! @risd1877.bsky.social

Up above the fields where the Lynches are from, in County Kerry, hidden in the mountains, is Roads Lough (Lake) where the water is as dark as a glass of Guinness.

This past summer, in #Bruges I came across this wonderful building which I learned dates back to 1399. Now, the Gothic building holds a saltier distinction, as the home of the Belgian French Fry Museum. It was very quiet, the morning I was there but that probably changed around lunchtime.

On November 23rd I'll be presenting my project, Visiting the Relatives: Drawing the Past, Place by Place, at the 14th Annual Illustration Research Symposium in London.
This year's theme is Heritage, so I wouldn't miss it. #risd

A long, dark, harsh winter approaches,
So, I must build a fire, inside,
and work to keep it glowing.
I will not wait for spring to carry on.
