The omg my mom believed that I maintain in her memory is that Christopher Walken killed Natalie Wood.
Distinguish between details that are important for you to pay attention to as language, interesting details that can be paraphrased, information that is only necessary in general terms for overview. For grad students, I can include the Show Your Work footnote and the Discursive footnote.
Expanding on this:
Teach quotation, summary, paraphrase, citation at the beginning of every class, first activity after syllabus overview. Logic of citation, being able to retrace scholarly steps, replicate their work.
Reminding myself: teach summary, paraphrase, and quotation conventions every time. Intro. Grad class. Every single time.
Last teaching day Thursday, new episode of the most recent Taskmaster to watch with the fam.

June 1910. Thanks for the book wishes. It'll be a while but I'm glad to have the contract.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! And when I finally get the Hippodrome book done, I would love to come on your show and talk about the time they sent a touring production down to Philly.
I'm thinking it's an early, slangy equivalent to "tourist trap," but I don't want to miss something obvious.
I'm writing about Billy Rose's nightclubs. Newspaper reviews often call them "mujik traps" or that he's the "king of the mujik trap." I see that "mujik" means "peasant" in Russian, more or less, but I cannot find anything that gives the source for this idea of a mujik trap. Any ideas?

Not me, are you right at the end of your term? That can sometimes crash it at the institution level.

A lot of people got excommunicated for saying they were holier than the Pope, but not me, I'm built different. I'm too holy to do that. Maybe even holier than the Pope.

In this thread I describe the arguments of the book—10 years in the making!
Hope Technology and Culture, Mobilities, and Transfers are all on your radar as journals that might want a review copy. It sounds like an argument that mobility studies folks would appreciate.
So I make sliders on Hawaiian rolls with pastrami that are Reuben-adjacent, and last night instead of sauerkraut I put kimchi on them! So good.
Anyone happen to have contact info for the permissions manager at @fantagraphics.bsky.social ? I'm trying to track down the rights for some comics from the 1930s that they used in one of their issues and striking out left and right. Thanks!
Image at the top of a truthsocial piece of AI-generated slop that looks like a ghostly Statue of Liberty with only three points on her crown, wearing pants, holding hands with another image to its right while also raising two arms in peace signs above its head and also possibly covering its face? It is very weird looking.
Can someone please let me know if there's a write-up of the weird, floating transformer thing over the president's head in the weird AI slop picture? Or like if someone writes a poem about it? It is so weird in a way I want to deconstruct or hear more about.
