📺 I was on BBC Politics West today, talking about why our PM was right not to take our country into the US war with Iran (despite pressure from Tories and Reform).
I set out some of our Labour Government’s cost of living support so far, both in response to the conflict and more widely:

🏴 Glad to support brilliant Welsh Labour candidates today on the doors in Barry in Kanishka Narayan MP’s constituency, with fellow MPs @darrenpjones.bsky.social @karinsmythmp.bsky.social @kerrymp.bsky.social and Cllr Tom Renhard 🌹
Super to see so many Cardiff Labour students out canvassing too!
Happy Vaisakhi to all celebrating locally and around the world
Happy Orthodox Easter to everyone celebrating today

📅 RSVP: Improving SEND support - local parent & carer ‘Coffee with Claire’ event
I know this matters to many of you, as it does me.
Cllr Ian Boulton, South Glos Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, will be there too.
RSVP clairehazelgrove.co.uk/cwc-send/
I’ll feed local views back to Govt.
Our whole community will be shocked by this awful news, and our hearts will be with the loved ones of the man who lost his life in Filton.
Please come forward if you have any information.
I know we will stand together, and with the family at this unimaginably difficult time.
📣Proudly backing Filton’s bid for UK Town of Culture 2028!
Filton has an extraordinary story - rooted in innovation and ambition, from rural origins to global impact in defence and aerospace, inc. Concorde, and more.
📝 I’ve written to Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy, to back the bid.
Happy Easter! I hope everyone celebrating today has a lovely day.
Wishing all Christians a peaceful Good Friday.
📣 Some highlights from a ‘mega March’ delivering change for and with our community.
From championing local people in Parliament to drive national change, to securing government funding where we need it most locally, this is the difference we are making together.
Wishing a happy Passover to all Jewish members of our community and beyond
🎉 Great news: one of the first Best Start Family Hubs is opening at Patchway Children’s Centre - congrats to the team!
Patchway has higher deprivation levels than 81% of England’s neighbourhoods.
📝 That’s why I wrote to the Education Secretary @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social to call for this here.
🦊 Proud our Labour Govt’s building on fox hunting ban with trail hunting ban.
Using animal scents can see pets & wild animals chased & killed.
There are concerns trail hunts are used by some to fox hunt.
The ban must be workable. Please share experience/views consult.defra.gov.uk/defra/trail-...
🧒 New evidence-based screen time guidance for under-5s
With screens everywhere now, today’s digital world can be hard for parents to navigate.
To help make this easier for parents, Government has released evidence-based screen time guidance.

Happy Palm Sunday to all Christians celebrating today, and marking the start of Holy Week, locally and around the world.
🐥 Lovely to meet ‘Bailey Bird’ Best Start school-based nursery team after winning govt funding this week!
Glad to visit today’s open session at Bailey’s Court Primary for families & hear their big plans.
Thanks to Head Mr Lynham, Deputy Head Mrs Elliott & team - the new nursery will open in Sept!
Happy Navratri to everyone celebrating!
🧒 Congrats Bailey’s Court Primary, Bradley Stoke, on winning govt £ for Best Start school-based ‘Bailey Bird’ nursery!
Great news for families: more childcare options & a simpler school run.
📝 That’s why I wrote to schools, encouraging applications.
Thrilled Bailey's Court Primary was successful!
📰 Great news: Brabazon and our wider community through to next stage for official ‘new town’ status and infrastructure boost.
Very pleased that our community’s potential is being seen by our Labour Government. We are now one of only 7 places in the country being considered.
🌙 Celebrating Eid in Emersons Green
Clare Moody, our PCC, and I were pleased to be invited to & say a few words at this Eid Celebration.
Great to see Muslims of all ages celebrating here & our wider community coming together.
Thanks South Glos Council, Julian House, ACH & TCF
☕️ Thanks all who joined me for ‘Coffee with Claire’ with PCC Clare Moody on crime & antisocial behaviour in Emersons Green.

Happy St Patrick’s Day to all celebrating in our community and beyond!
🍻Great to welcome fellow residents to my latest ‘Pub Politics’ event, this time at Baileys Court Inn in Bradley Stoke.
Thank you to everyone who joined me, fellow residents and some of our local councillors to grab a drink and have a good chat, doing politics differently.
👮 Join me for a special ‘Coffee with Claire’ with guest Clare Moody, Avon & Somerset PCC on crime & anti-social behaviour.
This is open to residents anywhere in the Filton & Bradley Stoke constituency.

Pleased that the Bill to remove Hereditary Peers has passed.
I gave my maiden speech when this first came to the Commons.
Inheriting the right (if you're a man) to vote on our laws, clearly has no place in a modern Parliament.
A long way to go on reform but this is historic - not least for women.
It may be 11pm, but it is very much worth it. The things we have to fight for, though, are astonishing.
