After decades of great journalism, Lisa Aziz and @martinstanford.bsky.social are packing away their alarm clocks. It’s been an absolute pleasure to contribute to their shows on @lbcnews.bsky.social. Thank you both for your wisdom, humour & friendship. Enjoy the lie-in !

🛒 💳 Supermarket loyalty cards.
Watchdog gives Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-op etc mostly a clean bill of health. They are *not* a rip-off, CMA finds.
But…it fails to make clear the £100 millions supermarkets make from selling our data.

It's been snowing in the UK and the road gritters are out in force, begging the question:
Have you ever wondered where that grit actually COMES from?
The answer is more magical, beautiful and fascinating than you probably realised.

'London-style' buses to be delivered nationwide with £1bn boost The Department for Transport (DfT) said funding would be allocated based on levels of deprivation and population.

Focus on buses = good. But let’s be clear, £1bn is not going to delivery London style bus services nationwide. In essence it’s roughly the same amount allocated by the last govt, but distributed differently

Forgotten wartime sites in Northern Ireland highlighted Thousands of forgotten world war sites in Northern Ireland have been collated in a new resource.

There was a massive underground bunker at Magee University which served as HQ for the Allied North Atlantic Command, overseeing one million personnel targeting the Nazi U-boat threat.
It was still accessible in the 1980s. Anyone know if it still is? Be a helluva tourist attraction.
