A lot has been going on in the world these past months, that is outrageous and disheartening. But even on my homefront with old parents, changes occour that are sad and challenging. I rest a lot when not dealing with this and follow the news through podcasts.

The book is good. He's a very able writer and historian giving unexpected, valuable insight in a (to me) very unclear era.

Reading 'All The President's Men' I was taken aback at how Republicans were honing their arguments, already back then. Arguments still up and alive. Arguments & positions that probably go even further back. May teachers hope children/youths will discover some roots or parallels to today?

Reading about the fall of the Roman empire and the start of the Middle Ages. Learning about what it was like for people living through another time of upheaval & huge transitions

As we resist Trump’s tyranny, America gains solidarity.

As we gain solidarity, we feel more courageous.

As we feel courageous and stand up to Trump, we weaken him and his regime.

As we weaken Trump and his regime, we have less to fear.

No matter how many times Republicans say otherwise, there is *no way* they can pay for their tax cuts for the rich without gutting healthcare and food assistance for the poor — along with other programs that millions of people rely on.

Don't believe their lies for a second.

Any traders with inside information that Trump was going to walk back his tariffs — some of them, presumably, Trump family members and cronies — just made a fortune.

It all feels like chaos until you look more closely at who is winning.

Niccolò Machiavelli argued that sometimes it is “a very wise thing to simulate madness.” 

Wise, that is, for the manipulative ruler.

Trump is simulating madness, but it’s all about increasing his wealth and power.

The upward redistribution of wealth over the past 50 years has shifted $80 trillion from the bottom 90% of Americans to the top 1%. 

That’s $80 trillion that would have gone into the paychecks of the working class.

The greatest trick of all is trickle-down economics.

Remember: The recipe for economic growth isn’t tax cuts for the rich. It’s investment in our people — in health care, infrastructure and education — to build a strong middle class. 

You don't grow the economy through trickle-down nonsense.
