The far-right and a dry stone wall a viral video promoted by racists is not what it seems

This is an instructive read from @jon-moses.bsky.social - honest enough to say he does not know the full story but challenging the pile-on from the usual suspects who are less interested in what the situation is than in fuelling yet more hate.

Another great riverfly survey this morning in Balerno with our highest score yet! This indicates good water quality and no current (major) pollution events.

Of course “war on motorists” should be in quotation marks throughout this post since there is no such thing.

New by-law bans camp fires and barbecues in Cairngorms People who are found lighting fires in the UK's largest national park could be fined £500.

We are doing our bit @ramblersscotland.bsky.social to make sure people know about new bylaw. But as the park chief executive said in parliament last month “intentional” burning (eg muirburn) is a bigger cause of wildfires than campfires so needs to be bigger picture. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

🔥 Starting this Wednesday, fires & barbecues will be banned in the @cairngormsnews.bsky.social from 1 Apr to 30 Sept each year.

Breaking this byelaw could lead to a £500 fine.

To cook food or make a brew while out walking, a camping stove remains a safer, cleaner, quicker & legal option.

Through her time as staff member, councillor, MSP and PO (and kids together at primary school) I’m very lucky to have her as friend www.scottishparliament.tv/meeting/meet...

Across Britain, millions are cut off from nature because local paths are missing, blocked or unusable.

This isn’t accidental. It's due to years of political & financial neglect.

We're fighting back with our Access Denied campaign. We need your help.👇🏽

Access to nature isn’t a luxury. It’s a right.

We always push to get our world-class outdoor access rights better protected in law.

It’s great when we see signs of that paying off!

We’ve been pressing for 2 improvements to the Crofting & Scottish Land Court Bill, which will move access cases from Sheriff Courts to the Scottish Land Court.

Clearly we disagree on this. Fair enough. I’ll just highlight that you are making assumptions about public knowledge lying behind how they express opinion.

Members of the public don’t read bills. Any bills. But this bill, more than almost any other, has had a very thorough airing in public debate for years now, so when opinion surveys show public support for it, we should take that as authentic.
