One of the most positive nights canvassing I’ve had in 20 years.

This is an instructive read from @jon-moses.bsky.social - honest enough to say he does not know the full story but challenging the pile-on from the usual suspects who are less interested in what the situation is than in fuelling yet more hate.

My money is on the wee Glasgow nerd.
A big clean up at Juniper Green this morning.
Removing lots more rubbish from the local area and river as part of our spring clean.
Beinn Laoigh today by the quite steep NE ridge: needed axe and crampons. Then on over Ben Oss and Beinn Dubhcraig.
A busy weekend ahead but Friday night was bike night: a bright breezy loop round West Lothian including the fine old bridge in Almondell.

Embrace the sheer joy of it.
Another great riverfly survey this morning in Balerno with our highest score yet! This indicates good water quality and no current (major) pollution events.
First evening bridge ride of the year with my usual bike companion. How wonderful are these lengthening spring evenings!
Of course “war on motorists” should be in quotation marks throughout this post since there is no such thing.
Ian Graham, of Colinton Clocks returns to the Visitor Centre this Saturday with his Mesmerising Mechanisms Exhibition.
10am-4pm, free entry
The exhibition features wooden machines he designed and built himself
The exhibition is hands on fun for all ages
Lovely to see the impact SG / @energysavingtrust.bsky.social CARES scheme is having on stuff local to me. Reducing the bill from £40k to £8k for @wolct.bsky.social is pretty good...
I’m very proud of this project that @wolct.bsky.social has just completed: 2 air source heat pumps, with heating and insulation upgrades in our old Victorian building making all our heating and hot water zero emissions. www.waterofleith.org.uk/blog/2026/03...
The report from Rural Affairs Committee is here www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-.... “Campfires cause 13 per cent of primary fires, bonfires that get out of control cause 4 per cent, and intentional burns that get out of control cause 19 per cent.”
We are doing our bit @ramblersscotland.bsky.social to make sure people know about new bylaw. But as the park chief executive said in parliament last month “intentional” burning (eg muirburn) is a bigger cause of wildfires than campfires so needs to be bigger picture. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Very good write up from Kate!
An image of a pine tree with text saying No Fires Or Barbecues 1 April to 30 September Maximum Fine £500
🔥 Starting this Wednesday, fires & barbecues will be banned in the @cairngormsnews.bsky.social from 1 Apr to 30 Sept each year.
Breaking this byelaw could lead to a £500 fine.
To cook food or make a brew while out walking, a camping stove remains a safer, cleaner, quicker & legal option.

A bitter cold wind on the Pentlands this afternoon but lovely sunlight towards the end of daylight.
And twin sister although she will constantly remind me that she is 2 days younger.
I met Alison through the green space campaign in 1997 that she refers to in her final remarks as Parliament presiding officer. Through her time as staff member, councillor, MSP and PO (and kids together at primary school) I’m very lucky to have her as friend www.scottishparliament.tv/meeting/meet...
Across Britain, millions are cut off from nature because local paths are missing, blocked or unusable.
This isn’t accidental. It's due to years of political & financial neglect.
We're fighting back with our Access Denied campaign. We need your help.👇🏽
Access to nature isn’t a luxury. It’s a right.
My first thought on reading the BBC is why is this at Sheriff court not tribunal? And I see the sheriff making the same point….
There goes my weekend 🤪 #rangerdailydiary
A high loch on a heathery hill with a blue sky
We always push to get our world-class outdoor access rights better protected in law.
It’s great when we see signs of that paying off!
We’ve been pressing for 2 improvements to the Crofting & Scottish Land Court Bill, which will move access cases from Sheriff Courts to the Scottish Land Court.

Congratulations to my colleagues in @ramblers.org.uk who have campaigned hard for this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Clearly we disagree on this. Fair enough. I’ll just highlight that you are making assumptions about public knowledge lying behind how they express opinion.
Members of the public don’t read bills. Any bills. But this bill, more than almost any other, has had a very thorough airing in public debate for years now, so when opinion surveys show public support for it, we should take that as authentic.
