Ah yes, stupid ass programs like *checks notes* food for starving people, medicine for sick people, and severe weather alert infrastructure. I guess I can forgive home though — poverty, illness, and climate disaster doesn’t really impact him in his home state of *checks notes* California.

In an email to The Post, his father, Errol, said Musk and his brother were “not into political nonsense, & we lived in a very well-run, law-abiding country with virtually no crime at all. Actually no crime. We had several black servants who were their friends”

Judge puts EPA’s attempted de-banking of IRA grant recipients on pause for the time being because there was no proof of “waste, fraud, or abuse” as EPA had alleged.
"Elon Musk’s Tesla has been forced to halt sales of its electric Cybertruck pickup amid mounting concern about metal panels falling off the supposedly indestructible vehicles..."

1. The DOGE website is garbage.
The claimed savings has no relationship to the data provided.
And the data that is provided grossly inflates the savings from each canceled contract.
So we just launched our own site — the Musk Watch DOGE Tracker — that breaks everything down.
Pretty remarkable that the Fed’s General Counsel made these comments in the absence of a Vice Chair for Supervision, during a pause in rulemaking, and while the Board is still (ostensibly) majority Democrat.
Via Capitol Account:
I know this is going to sound naive or earnest, but I genuinely find myself shocked by how little people seem to be upset by the levels of corruption we're seeing. Is that the median voter assumes everyone is corrupt already? Or isn't actually getting stories about the corruption?
It remains INSANE to me that Musk is not the subject of shareholder litigation for how he is cratering a company he ostensibly runs while in reality running DOGE
Far be it from me to defend the CapOne-Discover merger, but this reads like a shakedown of a company with a merger pending before this administration.
Also, banks aren't obligated to do business with entities that have attempted to overturn a free and fair election.
www.nytimes.com/2025/03/07/u...
The OCC, the regulator for national banks, rescinded its requirement that banks get the agency's approval before doing business with cryptocurrencies & crypto companies.
Not surprising, but this'll bring a lot more risk into the banking system which is backed by the public.

No one wants a paper trail because spending funds Congress has not appropriated is colloquially known as “stealing from the US Treasury.”
CapOne has a pending merger application before the banking agencies to acquire Discover and further consolidate the credit card/payments market.
Dropping this enforcement action for cheating consumers out of interest payments eliminates a potential obstacle to that deal.

The fight to protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is your fight.

Where is AARP?????? Top Social Security official exits after clash with Musk’s DOGE over data
Yet another top career staffer is leaving the administration amid a disagreement over a request by Elon Musk’s team for sensitive government information. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
UPDATE: We’re t-minus 30 minutes to midnight and the DOGE team has yet to bring the receipts.
The erosion of civil rights never stops at one group.
In coming weeks, Trump’s DOGE plans to cut staff who investigate complaints of employment discrimination in the federal workplace as well as a VA office that works to ensure all veterans receive equal access to care.
NOAA is reportedly on the DOGE chopping block.
The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US.
A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans.
Again, this isn't about efficiency.
Pope Francis' remarkable rebuke of JD Vance and Trumpism lays bare an essential truth: Trump is overseeing a massive and systematic abandonment of obligation to the global poor, and Vance's theological obfuscation can't make that disappear.
New piece from me:

When Musk's minions forced their way into USAID's servers, they made themselves "super administrators" meaning they had access to workers' Social Security numbers, credit histories, and home addresses.
They may have well broken the law.

Actual corruption
People are already dying because of what Musk and Trump have done in the last two weeks.
Important to note: The CFPB would be X’s regulator as it rolls out its new payment service
www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/01/...
True story: I worked on the law that help set up the CFPB. I’ve also needed their help. A few years ago my servicer didn’t return an escrow from when I refi’d. $3000. For over a yr would say they sent it but didn’t. 1 complaint to the CFPB & it was fixed. The CFPB fights for you!
Where’s Musk expressing concern about this doxxing?
Yep. And some of those actions have the potential for incurring serious liability.
EXCLUSIVE: The Bureau of the Fiscal Service is a sleepy part of the Treasury Department. It’s also where, sources say, a 25-year-old engineer tied to Elon Musk has admin privileges over the code that controls Social Security payments, tax returns, and more.
If the 60 Minutes team doesn't all quit, their next piece should be on how Paramount bribed Trump to get favorable treatment on a merger.
Elon Musk is a terrible president.
