Just off the phone.
Me: "Hi , I just wanted to confirm an appointment for my twins".
"Sure, can you give me one of their dates of birth please. Oh my God, I can't believe I just asked you that. I'm so stupid. I'm actually a twin too"...:).
Sing of a man putting hands into down his pants with a red cross in centre.
Still my favourite shop sign. From my local chipper obviously advising patrons not to put hot chips in their pants. It’s unhygienic and it’s not clever.
David Quinn • @DavQuinn X.com Gee, a book that demonises
When you are writing your piece of …. *checks notes* … fiction, please keep in mind that you may be upsetting very fragile people.

I'm going to get some chips. Anybody want some?
All: No thanks.
Everyone eats my chips.
Disney's new CEO, whose pay package is worth nearly $45M, just announced 1,000 layoffs.
Reminder that Disney paid an effective federal income tax rate of ZERO in 2025 and aims to buy back $7B of its own stock in 2026.
This is what corporate greed looks like.
Today is our Coffee Club day. it's our most active day each month and it looks like it may be our best ever (fingers crossed). As our model is built on giving up 4% of all people spend it means donations go up. I want us to be genuinely authentic/transparent and I hope this is a good way to do it.
The Soc Dems will bring a motion before the Dáil tomorrow aimed at tackling Ireland’s soaring energy costs.
Our proposals include the implementation of our ‘Solar for All’ plan and a €400 energy credit for struggling households.

The last of our Mikava Coffee is on site. When we began roasting a goal was to bring coffees like this to Ireland as they weren't readily available. Mikava's coffee has been used to win The World Brewer's Cup. They've also placed 1st in Colombian Cup of Excellence. imbibe.ie/collections/...
Thanks so much again. It can be a bit of a struggle to get our message across as it's mainly just me on socials. Having advocates like you is a big big help!
Not sure how I missed this but thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
I hope the couch makes him sleep on the floor after this
I maintain that among the media's biggest mistakes has been continuing to ask Trump questions as if he's a normal guy instead of asking things like "Can you explain who Jesus is" or "Describe the process of pumping gas"
Just went to Tesco to get Basmati rice. They seemed to be out so went ling grain. Got to the self service checkout. Guy beside me had 16 packets of Basmati rice.
Please be conscious that there are petitions going around that may appear to be calling for something you want, but for very different reasons than yours.
Read the small print!
I'm very interested in the concept of "enough". How it's different for everyone and why it seems particularly under examined in the context of business where exponential growth is presented as natural and desired. I don't think outcomes for people are good under these seemingly accepted parameters.
Another excellent episode of Get Around To It with @sweetoblivion.bsky.social and @laurenmurphyjourno.bsky.social . They’ve had some excellent interviews and this one with author Louise O’Neill is no exception. sponsored by us! #speirgorm podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/g...
Sending the guys off to The Dutch Coffee Festival this Friday. Bit of a busman’s holiday that I won’t spoil by attending:). We’ll be closing at 12 for any coffee collections.
Apple needs to explain this highly irregular conduct.

Tell me this isn’t real? What sort of system allows this to happen?
The fuel protests will not end until the Government approves fossil fuel exploration off the west coast, organisers have said.
isn't that drill baby drill MAGA nonsense?
It’s also important to note that it was NEVER a genuine protest about the cost of living, people need to get past that idea. It was always the far-right and it’s only the far right. They’re using people’s real concerns as cover and the govt are letting them.
Having already cut excise by 20c/l, and increased the rebate for hauliers and transport companies, it’s already pretty much at the legal floor. There would have to be a change of EU directives to go any lower. (2/2)
I very much hope this comes to pass. Fuck Spotify. An absolutely horrible company. Not that other streamers are particularly virtuous but these days it’s often about making the least bad choice. Spotify is the worst choice. open.substack.com/pub/joelgouv...
I’m holding the novel ‘Lincoln in The Bardo’ by George Saunders. I’m on a balcony overlooking Lake Garda. The sun is going down.
Have the good fortune to be in Bardolino on Lake Garda. Just started reading Lincoln in the Bardo.
