I first heard this on WQDR who were also playing deep cuts from the album such as “Pretty Persuasion.” It would not be until the release of the Succumbs video compilation in 1987 that I’d see the video.

In 1980 I had no idea who R.E.M. was. Little did I realize the deep connection they would develop with NC which led to me hearing them on WQDR out of Raleigh in 1983. I was intrigued by that first song I heard (“Laughing”). Over time my love for them would grow not unlike that of the kudzu vine.
