Oh, for sure. I'm just pointing out that if people really want an "on ramp" for abolishing ICE or defunding the police, there are ways to communicate it that don't alienate left and progressive voters while potentially changing the mind of moderates.

"Reform the police," inveriably means "ensure they hurt fewer white people," but I don't think "defund the police" has great optics for voters. Something like "invest in community safety" could be a more voter-friendly euphemism for redirecting funds away from police to beneficial community programs

Both Obama and Biden expanded ICE during their terms, so I would be unsurprised if that is the outcome here.
