Taking care of elderly parents is a great way to develop a deep hatred for the modern world.

21 years ago, April 21, 2005, Haunting Ground was released in Japan for the PlayStation 2 by Capcom. For me, a horror title with one of the best hide & seek mechanics. Giving us some iconic villains and, not forgetting, the unsettling "body autonomy" storyline. Happy Anniversary!
Another writer shared this m answer from legendary Simpsons writer John Swartzwelder & I’m sharing it as well. I read this interview when I was on Rick & Morty & every single thing I’ve written since then (comics, movies, TV, whatever) like this. Frankly its the only way to write imo
tomadatchi life has me by the chokehold. sorry
HAPPY BDAY BABY THANG
Apropos of nothing, if the creator of something you cherished turns out to be a horrible person, the answer isn't to close your hearts for fear of disappointment, it's to love more. Love with abandon, because there's always new art to find, love so much as to always outweigh the disappointments. ❤️
I don't want to shoot videos
I don't want to post tutorials
I don't want to show my process
I don't want to pour varnish
I don't want to turn my canvas
I don't want to record my screen
I don't want to cultivate parasocial relationships
I just want to make pictures and shitpost
People say 'the work speaks for itself'. Maybe that's true for some things, but it is never true in organizing. You absolutely need to share the work, often and always. There are new people coming of age daily and also most organizing is not visible to most people.
I'll keep wishing for a world where you can be happy

i still havent let go of said interest but instead I Can Now Talk about it beyond my own personal experiences alone. it feels more relieving that theres much more avenues/spaces to discuss white guilt experiences than there eever were when i was a child of color experiencing that in real time
ever since i was told that i was allowing whiteness to occupy my mind rent free even with that behavior it helped me navigate my own self a lot n what i had to prioritize when it came to being active in my own communities.
that being said it still is a way my brain unhealthily attaches/tries to justify the existence of white supremacy still being prominent n everything. it is good that nowadays im self aware about it tho n have found ways to unpack that via academics/open discussion
white guilt had become a special interest it comes with the package with being a person of color that loves studying guilt complexes in general. and white guilt is addicting as fuck to witness all the time n how it thrives/manifests in everyday culture.
A digital illustration styled like a book cover with the title "Spirit-Sight." A young, wide-eyed teen holds a lantern glowing with unnatural light. The smoke from the lantern takes the shape of various strange creature parts.
A digital illustration of my Snow Queen fairy tale retelling characters. An icy woman with mist surrounding her looks into a cracked, glowing snow globe. Within, two best friends engage in a snowball fight.
A digital illustration of a girl with a haunted expression kneeling beneath a gnarled juniper tree. She holds a feather that glows like fire. In the earth beneath her is a skeleton with fire in its eye sockets. In the tree sits a flame-colored bird. In the distance, smoke from a small house's chimney rises into the stormy sky.
Six digital illustrations of the characters for my House at Hollowmaw project. They depict the characters in full-body poses, each surrounded by glowing magical imagery that relates to them as characters.

pizzaback "the author's barely disguised fetish" is the 2020s version of "were they on drugs when they made this?! XD"
“People need to be nicer to each other online” and “people need to develop thicker skin because it’s not normal or healthy to get upset at everything you don’t agree with” are two statements than can and should coexist actually

Sometimes greater character interiority provides relief from exposition in works that contain complex speculative elements. You may lose needed context, but it has the effect of churning telling into showing on some level. You can then do a pass to check that enough situational signifiers remain.
HARD AGREE FR love seeing ur traditional stuff always!!
The term separating art from the artist was originally only used if the artist is dead and was used for English majors and scholars whose job is to study different writing material. even then in college were are taught to look at the artist life to better understand aspects of the story. 😭
Art is worth the time it takes to create.
This is part of the reason I've gone so heavily into physical media in the last few years, and why I only watch Twitch on my PC with an adblocker. I genuinely can't stand it anymore. Every second is part of my life I will never get back. How much of our lives have been wasted by ads? Days? Weeks?
