I'm honored to be included in the gorgeous @lastsyllablelit.bsky.social's latest issue! Many thanks to them for publishing this long poem that took me forever to write as I wrestled with what it means to be the descendent of a long line of white Southerners.

Thanks Last Syllable Lit for publishing an essay that is either about: sleep, intensity, acting, my stroke, my OCD, procedural television, a moment of kindness on social media, or @vincentdonofrio.bsky.social. I hope it’s the latter, but most likely all of the above. lastsyllablelit.com/procedural

Writing a thesis proposal is great. Blissful. Remembering that I will actually need to write this project, not just talk about writing it is less great.
Ugh feels like missing the point to get “back on track.” Glad you were able to go through those parts previously in hopefully a productive way
I am accepting submissions for my emerging writer series at gay.submittable.com. You should have three publications or fewer and no book contract. Yes, this is a paid opportunity. Guidelines at the link. Plz follow the guidelines.

Went to the optometrist to find out I have two astigmatisms so it’s been pretty memento mori around here
Spending my last proper day of winter break at home reverting to my 15 year old self, as God intended
There should be a Shazam but for movies your parents are watching over the holidays that tells you a.) what movie it is, b.) what has happened up to this point, c.) which important actors they’ll expect you to recognize
Happy New Year from “Last Syllable!”
Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, translated from the Italian by William Weaver
But with all this, I would not be telling you the city’s true essence; for while the description of Anastasia awakens desires one at a time only to force you to stifle them, when you are in the heart of Anastasia one morning your desires waken all at once and surround you.
Calvino, Invisible Cities
Reading and loving this right now!
