Late night ramble aside... I'm really having fun. Words are flowing. My mind is clear and I'm not worried about the what-ifs anymore. No distractions. I'm telling the story I feel I was born to tell, and I can't wait to share it with y'all in the future ❤️🐺
Do I hope someone with major money sees my stories and wants them adapted into animated films or a series? Hell yeah. I'd love to do more comics too. But I've been a writer since I could hold a pen, and years of studying literature paved the way for me to do what I love, even if it's just a hobby.
I've had these ideas spinning in my brain for four years, and I want them to finally exist in a tangible form. Sometimes that's a random art piece, but it's always been intended for the written word first and foremost. Not because it's the most accessible medium, but because it's what I'm best at.
I recently beta read a friend of mine's furry fantasy novel this past month, and that's really what energized me to get back to work on my own stuff with this much fervor. Seeing her vision come to life even in a rough draft form made me want to catch up on lost time. Now I'm writing 2-3k daily.
And that's not even getting into the money required to get quality cover art, print physical copies, hire an editor if I end up needing one... I don't have that money yet. I don't know when I will. But the words exist, my characters are alive, and I'm making progress. And that's what matters now.
And the money probably won't be there. It's a furry fantasy series. That's about as niche as you can get, and mainstream audiences will likely never touch it. But I'm paying attention to how other friends in the space handle similar projects, building a name for myself, and enjoying the process.
I'm not expecting this series to be a hit. I'd be shocked if I developed a readership outside of a few dozen people, really. But it's my passion project I've devoted the last four years of my life to from writing to art to daydreaming, and I want to do it justice whether the money's there or not.
Plus it's easier to say "Lemme publish a new book every year!" when I have all three finished in some capacity instead of rushing the later ones to meet some artificial self-pub deadline. Beyond the trilogy? Sure. Those can come out whenever. But I want the main series to be smooth and polished.
My current writing goal is getting rough drafts of Books 2 and 3 written before even publishing Book 1. Have the whole trilogy there to edit and work with. Mostly because I have a ton of free time being unemployed right now, and I want to use it wisely before my free time is eventually cut down.

Looking at the reworked plot outline I did before this return to writing Book 2 and... yeah a lot of it has changed along the way to the point where I gotta rework stuff in the final third now
I love a good outline but my best ideas usually come on the fly as things develop naturally with the story
Went back to this one and did more random touch-up work on it with a lot of the new things I've learned since summer, just to see what would happen. Really wanted to make it feel more vibrant and I like the results tbh

A proper painting of my Xailai cause I've never drawn her outside of cartoony emotes and cute pngtuber stuff.
Now past 90k as of tonight! Most I've written in like three years. I'm trying to keep the narrative pace up without just rushing everything in the second half, letting it breathe when I can, hoping for 140k as the limit before editing. But I'm on fire and don't feel like stopping any time soon 😌
