Our security lies in cooperation, not isolation. Our future lies in Europe.
I think that the EU is in a situation where it needs more countries. The UK, Ukraine, Türkiye, and Norway. These are four strong countries, which are part of Europe. Together, the UK, Ukraine, and Türkiye have armies that are stronger than Russia's army. Without Ukraine and Türkiye, Europe can’t match Russia. With the four countries on board you can wrest control of the seas, have secure skies and the largest land forces. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, has said that he believes the UK should join the EU in order to defend against Russian aggression. In a time of heightened insecurity, a deeper UK–EU defence partnership is not simply an advantage, it is essential.

Financial Times, Trump is hastening Britain's return to the EU. Economics, security and domestic politics all point the Starmer government towards Brussels. 6 April.
It is in the UK’s national interest to reverse that damage and build back our relationship with the EU, and stop looking to Trump.
[Brexit] was the greatest mistake this country has made since the war. I have no doubt about that at all. I mean, to turn our backs on our neighbours in that way, not just in terms of trade, but in terms of culture and everything was a ridiculous decision. Sir Michael Morpurgo, English author, poet, and playwright.
We can all agree with Sir Michael Morpurgo - Brexit was a grave mistake. It's time we fix the damage.

If we're serious about repairing the damage of Brexit then we cannot afford to "cherry pick" our relationship. We must fully rejoin the single market and customs union.
