I have been an economists for a very long time. I have always been a little surprised by how some people will talk about recession as a necessary reset or a “cleans.”

There is this “let them eat cake” kind of mentality that emerges that somehow a recession is like a fast for a day and healthy.

I've never taken the Amtrak in north Texas. Glad to see that Texas continues to be very Texas. (Many Midwest stations look very minimal/corporate)

The way gmail now makes it an expedition to access the information for Contacts is a thing to behold.

It used to be a little separate side tab. Now I have to go to a whole new website? Cmon.

Larry Summers’ sexism is jeopardizing his power and privilege, but the entire economics profession hinders progress for women In 2024, only about 1 in 3 newly minted economics Ph.D.s were women.

This piece I wrote for @theconversation.com argues that the Summers/Epstein debacle reflects what the data show: systemic bias in the economics profession’s practices and culture. That bias influences who succeeds and who is sidelined. #EconSky theconversation.com/larry-summer...
