I had to do genealogy stuff for acquiring Canadian citizenship. Apparently my first direct ancestor in Quebec was some guy from Normandy who lied about being a noble in order to scam his way into land ownership and became Lt-Gen of Trois-Rivières.

Funniest thing about having Québec ancestry is realizing we’re all related.
