A huge thank you to Li Siyu for her insightful talk, to the audience for the lively discussion, and to the HKUST School of Humanities and Social Science for co-organising the event.
Li Siyu, Associate Professor at Aix-Marseille University (France), shared her fieldwork findings on how it is not the exam itself and the content of what one learns, but the preparation for the exam and the making of a moral subject, that structures hierarchy and mobility in China.
Last December, the CEFC hosted a seminar on the gaokao, the famous exam for all aspiring university students in China.
Le CEFC a appris avec tristesse la disparition de Jean-Luc Domenach. Sinologue reconnu, auteur d'ouvrages de référence, ses travaux ont contribué à une meilleure compréhension de la Chine contemporaine.
