“First, acknowledge the reality. If my use of the word “dictatorship” disturbs you, if your first reaction is to say “Isn’t that a bit shrill?”, you’re part of the problem. The constitutional crisis isn’t something that might hypothetically happen; it’s fully underway as you read this.”
Mr. Rogers saying that "look for the helpers" is advice for children
I got pissed off at friends sharing a meme and I modified it, with apologies to Mr. Rogers, a great Pittsburgher.
Something I end up saying to people a lot is “there’s no law, only enforcement.” In years past it has seemed to strike most people as a dark joke or too pessimistic but I just think it is a good, succinct explanation of how the system actually works
By removing Gwynne Wilcox from her seat on the NLRB, Trump has left the Board without a quorum and thus unable to act. In doing so, he may have unwittingly opened up space for states and cities to regulate conduct that previously fell within the Board’s jurisdiction.

To be clear, the NLRB is an independent agency and NOT under the Dept of Labor … for now. But yes, Musk is big mad at the NLRB so I anticipate they will be USAID’d in 3…2…
BREAKING: telephonic hearing 3pm ET today to begin work on our & partners TRO request regarding DOGE involvement inside the Treasury systems. Schedule will be discussed for expedited briefing on the TRO.
To be fair, they’re ALSO introducing legislation that will make it unlawful to violate … all those other laws.
You just *know* she’s debating when to broach the topic of her eligibility for that “deferred resignation “ offer.
Thanks, Thea. FWIW, I’m a big fan (and occasional slowpoke test knitter for you). Currently faux incognito on account of the fear and paranoia.

Right back at you, my sibling in public service. Contractors have historically had it so much worse without civil service protections. Now it seems we’re all in the soup.
Anyway, I’m not sure I have any pithy summary. Things are really difficult right now. Let’s look out for one another.
Anyway, I know that the current cruelty is the point. They’ve told us that they want going to work to feel like trauma. (Here’s the nominee to head the Office of Management and Budget):

Most federal employees aren’t looking for accolades or recognition. We do what we do because we are deeply mission driven and believe in public service. We just want to be able to do our damn jobs without threat or vilification. Suddenly we’re “targets.”
Just like every other citizen, most feds have beliefs and opinions and exercise our rights to vote. But we’re not partisan at work. We serve across administrations. We’re subject-matter experts. Wonks. That’s the genius of the career civil service.
And my fam isn’t special or unique. The entire federal workforce is made up of people who, like us, have put country over personal prosperity. (In fact, we’re more fortunate than many given our tenures, educations, and resources).
could have bailed for lucrative private sector jobs at any point. I had an offer straight out of law school making almost 3 times my government starting salary. My spouse does cutting-edge R&D for the military and is constantly recruited by industry partners.
First post here and it’s a doozy. I’ve been a federal civil servant for 15 years. My spouse has 25 years. Like all of our fellow feds, we’re being threatened, bullied, told that we’re “the enemy.” Elon encouraged us to go find “higher productivity” jobs in the private sector. But most feds…🧵🪡
Hi all, We’re still here at OPM.
We have a situation where we MIGHT, and I do mean, MIGHT have four of Elon’s people blocked from the building.
Can we get press or a member of Congress down here? We’ve blocked them for two hours and they keep coming back and trying to go in.
I went to the argument and honestly, watching Gorsuch smirk for two hours nearly made me lose my breakfast. But I would like to know where Kagan will be taking her stand-up routine, because I will pay that two-drink minimum for sure.
