The climate is dry—not of water, but of memories, the purest form of moisture. The plants thrive on the smallest drop, growing at ravenous speeds. Fuzzy and soft to the eye, they seem inviting, but at one touch, they will immediately begin to drain your memories.

Last year, I visited Death Valley with my mom who is a biologist. She pointed out how plants here are fuzzy and curled, a survival tactic against evaporation. That desert ecology inspired the plants in this piece, and as seen in the earlier illustration with the gardeners :)

Like Cirtynian homes, Fregol family houses featured key architectural elements: painted front joists a decorative lower roof, and two facades. Designed for practicality and tradition, each home typically accommodated up to six family members and a pet.
