And as for writers... well, you already know it doesn't do a good job there, so why would it do a better job of art? My kid the artist can tell an AI image at 1000 paces lol, she says something about "it has no soul". (I do not see it but she's the expert)

It absolutely sucks to find out that this really cool tool which seems to help is actually doing harm. I've been there, it's one of the reasons I'm so vehemently against it (backlash factor). I've seen artists who use AI to graph out positions, layouts, etc... but they never post it, yaknow?

But back to the topic, the bad impression is why @ckohwrites.bsky.social tries to reach out (gently) to people. Your social media is your brand as a writer. You want to have a good relationship with other authors & artists - these are the people you'll end up meeting at conventions, etc.

You see where I got the impression, though, right? The public promotion of AI art is what made me think you didn't care. That's why for a lot of the community the first response is block or mute - and 90% of people who use AI publicly are not open to change. In fact, they're often bots. (argh bots)

Hopefully what you're already doing will work. I was told no ID is easier, but with ID is still possible.

Don't be afraid to call people and ask for help, you will find someone friendly eventually. The post office and librarian passport people were helpful to me. Local law library especially.
