the kimmel thing is bad but as long as they arent rounding people up indiscriminately based on race, building concentration camps and talking about eradicating those they deem sexual deviants, i think we’ll be ok

Half my coworkers at Taco Bell are homeless. Some live in their cars. One guy literally lives under a bridge. Apartments around here start at $2000/mo but I could rent a dilapidated trailer with plastic sheeting for doors for $850/mo

Here's a news story covering Sean's comments & the subsequent retaliation. Judge for yourself, but to me, this is our LA public transit showing how, bit by bit, institutions let fascism take hold. This is a matter of democracy, not just a job. Please share widely: lapublicpress.org/2025/08/la-m...

attended a Stop the Bleed training today. very good information and skills to learn and *very hopefully* never use.
in a world where we are in danger of being shot by a right wing nut, we need to be ready to administer life-saving first aid.

The US prison population has declined from 1.6 M in 2009, years to about 1.2M in 2023 and was projected to fall as low as 600K in 10yrs

The escalation in ICE is designed to facilitate state repression, but it’s also a blank check to the prison industrial complex and private prisons.

i should chill. embark’s still the best department of this city. but it’s also a symptom of the seeping cultural rot we’ve been experiencing in this city and state since the president was re-elected. these things connect. nothing happens in a vacuum.

the meeting is drawing to a close less than an hour and a half after it began. nothing notable transpired. mostly pro forma renewals for the beginning of the fiscal year.
see you back here in two weeks unless one of use dies before then.

city council has their first meeting of the fiscal year in the morning. it will be very dull. i’m not going to waste your time or mine by giving a play by play. i will have it on while i prepare to attend the @socialismconference.org in sweet home chicago. i’ll report tomorrow as necessary.
