Thx for this link! I plan to use it when we go to get our (6 month) boosters. One question: the link says an "updated" vaccine is available - do you know if this update covers the 'cicada' variant?

Sadly, the lack of masking is what stopped me from donating. A family member got a serious cancer diagnosis in 2022 and now I can't (won't) justify the extra risk. It makes zero sense to me that CBS won't even do masked sessions from time-to-time (I've asked for them & been shot down every time).

I think it's best for everyone to understand that the unified class project of billionaires right now is to do to white collar workers what globalization and neoliberalism did to blue collar workers.

We have a trans kid too (teenager) and we also have UK citizenship. Unfortunately tho, since Brexit, it's much less appealing than Irish citizenship. My side is Scottish and while the Scots are very accepting (in general), most of the rest of the UK is not. I hate that we have to think this way.

Can confirm. We have a trans teen and sadly, the topic comes up often.

Years ago, my parents bought a condo in Florida and my mum genuinely thought the kitchen cabinets were beige - then she started cleaning them and discovered they were actually white! Suffice it to say, the entire place was washed down and repainted.

PERSON 1 in scarf holding phone with a bird sitting on it: Wait, how do I take a picture of this one? I don’t know how to say this without sounding harsh, but I need you to hear it. COVID — or SARS-2 — is not “just another cold.” It doesn’t leave you the same. Every reinfection stacks damage: brain, heart, immune system.

Someone said: "Remote work doesn't allow for team cohesiveness."

Fuck this team nonsense. The only people who ever talk about the importance of "teams" at work is management, never workers. Multiple studies show productivity increases when optional remote work is available. That's the bottom line.

Your description of the 'golden hour' reminds me of my husband's diagnosis - he felt totally fine when his melanoma was discovered after a routine removal of a bump on his back (not even the doc who removed said bump expected cancer, nevermind stage 3).

ALT 0151 - I have to use it regularly for work. It's fully etched in my brain now, sigh.

Asked my doctor a couple weeks ago about measles & she reminded me I had a booster back in 2013 (she did her whole practice). I'm pretty happy with her overall (tho I do wish she didn't stop masking in the last year)

Masking discourse is on again and I’ll just say if you see people masking when few others are it’s likely because they’ve determined that for them, in that setting, the benefit of not catching (or spreading) whatever’s going around is worth the cost of masking. It’s rarely more complicated than that

I really shouldn't be shocked by anything he says/does anymore, but it's just so far out there, that I assumed it was fake the first time I read it. Sigh

Our 16 y/o occasionally goes sockless in their winter boots but I'm pretty sure it's entirely due to laziness (not willing to run back upstairs to grab a pair of socks before going out).

Husband's surgeon said this 3 years ago: "Five years ago I would have told you to go home & get your affairs in order."

He's not fully out of the woods yet (at the 5 yr mark I will breathe better), but sparing our teens that news has been everything.
