The measures include:

👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️Bringing back the family doctor relationship.

🚩Cutting through red tape - almost halving the number of targets and measures.

💻Online booking for appointments in all surgeries by October to end the 8am scramble for appointments

The Government has today announced a new deal for GPs. This is extremely welcome after the years of difficulty that our communities have had with accessing vital services.

💰GPs will see an extra £889 million next year to support rebuilding general practice.

It's great to see that the Government is investing £25 million in our local hospices!

I'm particularly happy to see that the Garden House Hospice who do incredible work serving local people across North Herts and Stevenage and help take a great deal of pressure off of our NHS.

Joining Garden House Hospice Care to hear about their Compassionate Neighbours and Wellbeing Hub services was really enlightening to how positive the benefits of their work is and how much it has helped hundreds of people in North Herts and Stevenage.

Loneliness has such an incredibly detrimental effect on our health. This is particularly harmful for people with vulnerabilities or who are elderly who are often shut off from their communities.

Ensuring that young people have all possible opportunities to engage, learn, and grow in our communities is incredibly important, so I'm really pleased I could join Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation to hear about the work on their 'A Great Place To Grow Up' initiative.

🏉 And I even managed to get a break to watch the England vs Scotland Six Nations game at The Orange Tree, Baldock. Very tense game but congratulations to England for just about winning!

🎂 Also popped by Batch Fifty Two to celebrate their 2nd birthday. Excellent to see one of our fantastic cafés nice and busy!

🗣 Great to get out this week and speak to residents on the doorstep and at North Herts Council Baldock and Villages Councillor Surgery. Picked up important issues that need sorting and lots of support for change at County Hall!

Despite illness stopping me from being able to engage fully in this year's Labour Local Government Conference, it was still fantastic to see friends from across local government and hear how Labour is standing up for our residents!

Without these benches, our residents who are vulnerable, elderly, or who have disabilities are less able to access our town centre and our community.

That is why I have been fighting for this and why I am so excited that we are moving ahead now!

New metal-framed benches with recycled plastic composite slats will last in our community for a long time, while also being easier to clean and maintain.

This is something that I have been desperate to get sorted as our old wooden benches are falling apart and several have had to be removed over the last few years due to rot.

After years of campaigning and working with @NorthHertsDC officers to get funding sorted, I am incredibly pleased to say that we are finally getting new benches for Baldock Town centre!

It was great getting out on the doorstep and delivering leaflets in Baldock & Letchworth East (with fellow District Councillors) over the weekend!

Very positive conversations with residents who want change at County Hall!

There were some incredibly powerful contributions from local speakers and faith representatives, including Leader of the council, Jeremy Newmark, who highlighted the dangers of tolerating the language and actions of hatred, othering, and dehumanisation.

It was an honour to join friends in Hertsmere Borough Council for their Holocaust Memorial Day event.

This year's theme 'For a Better Future' is a particular reminder of the importance of challenging these abhorrent acts to achieve better for our young and future generations.

Even in the wind and rain, it was absolutely worth it to get out and talk to residents on the doorstep this afternoon.

More conversations on SEND, Growing Baldock and the future of secondary school provision, and road safety. It is clear that we need a more effective representative at County Hall.

Labour East Regional Conference was absolutely fantastic this weekend!

With great discussions on health, education and SEND, local government, and expanding and increasing opportunity across our region, it is clear that Labour is the party that will deliver for our community.

I am keen to find good common sense and strategic solutions for all of these issues by working with residents.

Despite the chill, it was great to be out talking to residents about the things they care about!

Today's topics included SEND provision, Highways and road safety, and concerns about development infrastructure.

Had an absolutely fantastic time at the North Hertfordshire Lunar New Year Festival 2025!

This event gets bigger and better every year due to the incredible Hong Kong Connect, who bring communities together for a celebration that is culturally enriching, informative, and fun!

The A1(M) will be closed at Letchworth Gate Interchange, and traffic will be diverted through the up and over slip roads and back onto the A1(M) in both directions. (See map)
