I long ago gave up any pretence of being normal. That's why I spent 2 days debugging code on my Easter break for a 4-year-old side project.

I have now read this piece and it is very good.

Massive respect for @merenbey.bsky.social and Iva for their persistence and documenting this torturous process.

Highly recommended reading for anyone who cares about reproducibility in science.

The risks of antimicrobial resistance have been increasing, while harmful biocides have continued to be used where they are not needed.

The government must act now to reduce these risks and safeguard our future.

Excellent talk from Jay Vornhagen on colonization success outcomes of Klebsiella pneumoniae.

So nice to see (micro)aerobic vs anaerobic environments considered. ABX model at the moment, but will be great to see if same principles apply to gut colonization models in metabolic health.

Colour me better: fixing figures for colour blindness Images can be made more accessible by choosing hues, shapes and textures carefully.

If preparing figures please consider "colorblind friendly" approaches (www.nature.com/articles/d41...). I am missing the long-wave opsin, which manifests in strange ways: I can't discern red vs. black. This dichromacy is rare and severe, but ~300 million have more common forms addressed in link.

AI badly needs a dose of skepticism Some scientists are too eager to believe their own claims

"AI scientists are building ever-larger models, and then claiming that each model can solve even more than the previous one.

Then, model in hand, they go around looking around for problems to solve"
