It's a great time to check out our folk horror adventure set on the moors of Northern England. The answers lie in the soil...
If you like adventure games, this is one you'll never forgive yourself for missing. I read and watch a whole lot of folk horror, and few have taken permanent residence in the my mind quite like Hob's Barrow.
(please get it out. It's been 4 years. I can hear knocking in there. What's it doing? Ple-)
Every time this game goes on sale, or I’m even just reminded it exists, I feel compelled to tell horror fans that they must not miss out on it.
It’s genuinely creepy, so atmospheric, and tells an excellent story. Huge Wicker Man vibes.
I can't recommend this enough. I had such a good eerie time playing it.
Superb adventure. Highly recommended. moegamer.net/2025/02/22/t...

My good friend wrote a thing… skeptical of the conversations around LLMs
“… an LLM remains a derivative interpretive system, able to model human meanings, but not to originate them.”

I thought maybe one day we’d see each other again when I was back in town seeing family, but alas… that ship has sailed. Rest in Power, Dom. Thank you for seeing me back then, this one is for you… just you m.youtube.com/watch?v=oIFL...
I can still play two of Dom‘s original songs, one of which creases me up for its teenage earnestness and angst… around 21/22 we lost touch as we both joined other bands. We would only bump into each other at shows… I moved to another city and eventually overseas and we became strangers.
In that band, we played our first ever show at the Cavern as a bunch of spotty teens… while it was short lived, Dom and I spent 4/5 years playing together (I later switched to guitar and he to bass)… the line up and name changed almost weekly but we were the constant…
He let me join the band after that first meet-up because not only did I nail that bass line (I still sound cocky)… I also nailed Lithium by Nirvana and Novacaine from the soul by Eels. Granted, these are hardly Marcus Miller, but they started something…
One of the songs in the pile was ’Just‘ by Radiohead… over the days before that Thursday meet-up, I became obsessed with that song, and subsequently the band themselves. That’s one of many things I thank Dom for…
He asked what I could play, and being a cocky 14 year old, I said whatever you want me to. He gave me some bass tabs he’d printed off the internet and said if you can learn them, come to the music room after school on Thursday…
Recently found out that an old friend, the first to recruit me in a band, slipped off this mortal coil. I‘d acquired my first bass (a used Fender Precision) about 2 weeks prior. And Dom heard about it…
