Any unsolicited email that includes something like "I’m part of a private readers community about 2000+ active readers and social media reviewers. We’re not some forced review for hire thing. We just spotlight books that actually deserve to be seen, and yours hit that nerve." is a scam. I'm sorry.

Today's mood in a nutshell.

I started crocheting a blanket for my father yesterday. He wanted ridiculously cheap acrylic. Like $4/ball cheap.

Which is like... I have paid more for a single skein of yarn than I did for an entire blanket's worth of scratchy acrylic for this man. But he picked it out! That's what he wanted! 😭

Hey folks. Been reading Mi'Sel Joe's memoir the last few days.

This one's must-read for Newfoundlanders especially, because it's a memoir that was taken orally of the longtime Mi'kmaq chief of Miawpukek First Nation (Conne River).

It's very down-to-earth & brings it all home for me.

Imagine being wealthy and not building libraries.

Embarrassing.

Hooray.

My 200th book was Truth Telling by Michelle Good. Highly recommend, especially for Canadians who take their Indigenous anti-racism seriously. Be prepared to feel uncomfortable, and to sit with some seriously ugly truth.

This is what decision paralysis looks like when you're me.

(Sleep Token coincidental; Dangerous was just what was playing when I hit screen record.)

I'm gonna stay in my room reading and avoid the loud relatives coming to visit.

Lemme tell you, perimenopause, PMDD, AND ADHD your GP refuses to assess you for... Hellish combination.

Unless you've got four legs, fur, and a tail, leave me alone. It's not that hard, I promise.

Sci-Fi Author: In my book I invented the Tormented Nexus as a cautionary tale

Social Media CTO: "Don't Create The Torment Nexus" is actually a metaphor for how mean people are to me for wanting to implement the Torment Nexus

During tonight’s Trick-or-Treating, our 3-year-old got more and more excited.

β€œMore houses! More candy!”

Until he suddenly looked to the sky and shouted (verbatim):

β€œCan I eat the moon!?”

Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t, little one. Be the cosmic horror you want to see in the world.

I was just laid off for the second time this year. It's going to be a hard fall and winter. My safety net, as is the case for too many of us especially these days, is the kindness and generosity of friends and strangers. Anything helps.

The creature is being temporarily moved to a new enclosure for both environmental enrichment and canine companionship, and is greatly enjoying the novelty of being transported.

...I gotta go dogsit for a bit & Dad's driving, which is nice 'cause the hour+ drive to their place is a bitch by myself.

I think folks weirded out by the thought of fucking xenos a) didn't watch the same move I did because xenos fucking characters is the medium in which the point of the movie is made and b) missed the entire not-even-subtext-but-blatently-in-your-face-(literally) design of Geiger's ENTIRE catalogue.

It's Halloween, and the entire first Episode of Scarlet Hollow is free for you to explore on Steam.

Its branching narrative web is so intricate that you'll see less than 15% of the game in a single playthrough.

So get lost for a bit, and see where the road takes you.

Welcome home.

Okay, look, I tried the whole "treat yourself like a creature in a zoo" thing tonight, and not only did it work but it made me smile.

Probably 'cause I was walking around the house saying things like, "the creature's nest is getting cluttered, should probably clean it off so they can sleep better."
