Dr. Gallistl, PhD, is an assistant professor of gerontology at Karl Landsteiner University in Krems, Austria. Her research explores ageing through the lens of material gerontology, examining how materialities - from technological devices to natural landscapes - shape the co-constitution of ageing.
Through everyday care and engagement these multispecies connections transcend risk, suggesting climate gerontology can learn from how humans and non-humans age together amid environmental and social change.
In her seminar Dr. Gallistl reimagines aging in a changing climate, showing how older adults in a rural Austrian town form "odd-kin" bonds with humans and non-humans.

in my 'critical perspectives on aging' grad seminar (my favourite!) and our first set of facilitators are exploring critiques around successful aging. loving this first exercise they've brought forward asking us about our associations with successful aging.
