Obama: "When you see an administration suggest that ordinary street crime is an insurrection or a terrorist act, that is a genuine effort to weaken how we have understood democracy."

Federal judge dresses down Alina Habba:
"Your role is not to secure convictions at all costs, nor to satisfy public clamor, nor to advance political agendas. Your allegiance is to the impartial application of the law, to the pursuit of truth and to the upholding of due process for all."

Rep. Julie Johnson to Noem: "Are you aware that ICE agent jackets are available on Etsy for $20? Anybody can throw a mask on and run around and terrorize people of color without any regard for the law because your agency does not have proper protocols to make sure your agents are clearly identified"
Given the literal definition of deportation is removing a foreigner or noncitizen from the country, we - journalists, media orgs - should probably all stop referring to the ‘deportation’ of a 2 year old US citizen. It’s NOT a deportation.
I’m not sure what it is. A kidnapping?
This is kidnapping of US citizens—children, in fact. Let’s not refer to this cruel, illegal and repulsive behavior as deportation.
How can the Bar Association stay quiet when Attorney General tramples law profession ethics?
I am almost 82 and very 2nd Wednesday of the month I hold my breath so does my partner. No one should have to live like that; I paid into SS for almost 50 years and started paying into Medicare when it started. SS is an earned benefit and invested in by employee/er contributions.
Gone is “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” Maya Angelou’s transformative best-selling 1970 memoir chronicling her struggles with racism and trauma. Two copies of “Mein Kampf” by Adolf Hitler are still on the shelves. Gone is “Memorializing the Holocaust,” Janet Jacobs’s 2010 examination of how female victims of the Holocaust have been portrayed and remembered. “The Camp of the Saints” by Jean Raspail is still on the shelves. The 1973 novel, which envisions a takeover of the Western world by immigrants from developing countries, has been embraced by white supremacists and promoted by Stephen Miller, a senior White House adviser. “The Bell Curve,” which argues that Black men and women are genetically less intelligent than white people, is still there. But a critique of the book was pulled. The Trump administration’s decision to order the banning of certain books from the U.S. Naval Academy’s library is a case study in ideological censorship, alumni and academics say.
Some horrifying details on the white supremacist book purge at the Naval Academy library:

This is a concession by the U.S. government that its “arrangement” with El Salvador is irrevocable. To me this has to be grounds to argue that the arrangement itself is unconstitutional under the Fifth and Eighth Amendments
The oligarch playbook
This by @sifill should be a must read and we have to be prepared, each in our own way, to heed her warnings and advice.
NEW: ACLU brings class habeas action in N.Y. challenging Trump’s use of wartime powers for deportations.
The move is a response to Monday's SCOTUS ruling that requires habeas litigation to challenge Trump's Alien Enemies Act proclamation.

“While in the interrogation room, Makled said, a man in plain clothes entered and began speaking to him. He said he recalls the man telling him: ‘We know you're a lawyer. We know you take on big cases.’”
I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”
Peter Marks, the top FDA vaccine official, resigns, saying that RFK Jr.'s stance on vaccines poses a danger to the public. “It has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the secretary." @by-cjewett.bsky.social @sherylnyt.bsky.social Noah Weiland www.nytimes.com/2025/03/28/h...
Operation Warp Seed was the single best thing Trump did in his first term.
Now, RFK Jr ousted one of the people who made it happened.
bsky.app/profile/gtco... George Conway: The Food and Drug Administration’s top vaccine official, Dr. Peter Marks, abruptly resigned Friday, saying in a searing letter that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s aggressive stance on vaccines was irresponsible and posed a danger to the public.”
All part of the Take Down America plan
Not only is Elon ruining the government and ruining this country, he's doing so by buying elections. On the ground here in Wisconsin, these great citizens say their votes aren't for sale! Vote Crawford #WisconsinSupremeCourt
If, in fact, the information in the Signal chat isn't classified in this administration it seems to me that's a huge story--why wouldn't these sorts of details that are traditionally classified not be? Do we have a larger problem with how sensitive national security is being handled?
Oof 😓 ⚖️👇🏾 This will be a wild remit because this covers everything from live pandas at the zoo to slavery at the National Museum of African American History & Culture. Which do you think will be cut? Hint it is not the pandas 🐼.
I’ve read several articles today referring to RFK Jr. or Geier as vaccine “skeptics”. I again beg the media to STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION. They are not skeptics. They are lying, grifting, unqualified frauds who are promoting a conspiracy.
“Conspiracy theorists” would be much more accurate.
they’re running out of things to get from trump
