It was the first match I've given the full monty (that's ***** in case Dave is reading your timeline) since the Nakajima/Miyahara match in 2023 in NOAH.

So while I have some empathy for people for whom the match underwhelmed (and I was one of them, I think I put too much into what could have been versus accepting what was), I also think that there was a lot of value in the match regardless.

There's a lot of tourists in the Puro space that watch 1-2 shows a year strictly for in-ring, and while I'm happy they're watching because I love wrestling and want other people to do the same, I don't think they're as into the stories/characters since they don't watch on a regular basis.

I shall read it, then. WK was rich in a lot of stories where time (the too early attempt of Umino to ascend, what Hiromu and Naito could have been, what happens when time crashes in all at once in the case of both Naito and Tanahashi winding down their careerss) took on an almost punishing role.

There's likely a very interesting discourse just in the context of this match to be had about the dreams of artists versus the reality when circumstances beyond anyone's control, like time, takes things away from them. Especially in viewing professional wrestling as the performance art it is.
