Puzzled by the trend in the humanities of picking and hyper fixating on one mathematical component of Gen AI and reading into it like tea leaves. In an attempt to demystify models, they mystify themselves with the math. Mathstification, if you will.

Big part of growing up as engineer for me has been realizing that any sufficiently large code base, even if written by world's best engineers, is inevitably held together by bubblegum, string and lots of good will, and that this is sometimes actually okay. [As always, exceptions apply.]
Applying instrumental reason to art isn't unprecedented in art history, DLSS follows an existing line of thought. But, to claim it was the prevalent approach in art history until modernism is ahistorical. (Plus yassifying existing art certainly seems different to studying perspective.)
This DLSS stuff is what you get when you view art as a metric to optimize, when you reify the most human of endeavors into a force of nature to be studied, to be dominated. You cannot fix another person's art because art isn't a number in a table to improve upon.

We're now obviously past postmodernism and past multinational capitalism. I know Anna Kornbluh's new book tries to extend Jameson to the digital age but have not read it so your milage may vary!
Since you're mentioning Fisher, I'd recommend looking into Fred Jameson's work too. His essay/book on postmodernism is phenomenal. Imo anyone who's trying to understanding the current cultural moment with any level of seriousness should grapple with it.
