Just heard that Leslie Fish, filk writer and performer passed.
I guess I know what I'll be listening to instead of holiday tunes for a while.
Soar high, Bard.
Space is wide and good friends are too few.

Build a Chair From Bulls%$t: Chapter 1 – Introduction
Build a Chair From Bulls%$t: Chapter 1 – Introduction YouTube video by Lost Art Press

Sorry that woodworking has let you down lately! It's still a great art and pastime. (You showed up in my woodworking feed, don't mean to butt in) Have you considered building a chair? I guarantee you could do it, and it is so satisfying to get back in the shop. Good luck!

Nice pick on the kaweco brass! Have you looked at manifold nibs for ballpoint replacement?

It's hard to isolate all the danger points of an all in one machine at once, and when they are covered it's usually not as well covered as a dedicated machine. After another look this is similar to a Shopsmith but not quite the same. With your small shop space maybe you should look at a real mk V.

Looks like a Shopsmith to me. Marketed as an all in one tablesaw, lathe, jointer and more! They seem very useful, but also incredibly dangerous.

“I asked ChatGPT-“ okay well I asked the big oak tree at the center of the woods and she said you’re a lazy dork

I don’t care what Ozturk wrote. It doesn’t matter. This is America. We’re fucking free to have opinions of all sorts. It doesn’t matter. You don’t get to lock up people for bad thought. That’s against the fucking law and morals and fuck every last person arguing that this is a crime. Fuck all of em

That's wonderful! I've been needing a new hand sweeper, and I've slowly been working toward making a turkey wing broom for cleaning shavings off my work bench. Perhaps I should consider a besom.

What's a besom?

Hewing hatchet, bow saw, brace with 1" auger bit.
With these you can build both shelter and furniture, and wait for rescue in style.

I like the joint in the handle, it reminds me of cottonwood twigs. Great spoon!

A small chest sits on a workbench. It has carvings on its vertical faces, but these are hard to see.

A closer look at some of the carvings. The large front panel has a tessleated hexafoil design, while the side has a trefoil pattern and some waves engraved.

An inside look of the chest, showing an open till suitable to hold the lid open (if the lid was actually attached yet)

I am learning an incredible amount trying to get this carved chest built.

A board with a continuous hexafoil pattern rests across my lap, with a scandi carving knife on top. It's mid process, with some of the pattern cut into the board and some of it traced out with a compass.

Haven't had time to do too much in the shop, but a little chip carving while the wee one is at sports practice makes the time go quick.
