tldr: hurting for a full year, doc says it’s rheumatoid arthritis, i’m getting a specialist soon and everything hurts all the time

merry christmas to me! i have arthritis as a present :)

yesterday i got the call

so first thing: my doctor said it could be really anything. arthritis, lupus (was not it), just a need for physical therapy, etc

it was, take a guess, arthritis. rheumatoid arthritis to be specific :/
doc’s setting me up with a specialist soon

“ok, let’s get some lab work and x-rays and go from there. sounds like a form of arthritis but let’s be sure.”

i do lab work. a normally 30 minute check up turns into ~2 hours

“ok, we’ll have results back in 2-3 days. we’ll call you.”
that was on saturday

it’s now mid august or early september, my knees are aching and stiff all the time and i can barely get up and down my stairs. go to the doctor and she tells me to wait until december, when i get my check up, to see if my knees are still hurting and if we need to do anything

so here was my christmas gift from god (🧵)

- be me, 1st of january 2024: incredible knee pain. chalk it up to not having a car and needing to walk everywhere everyday
- 3 months pass. still in pain. ok, still getting used to the exercise. sure!
- 3 more months pass - still in horrible pain
