I agree with the need to be driven by our values. APA Council just reiterated the committment to EDI at its Council meeting in February.

The Commission on Accreditation (CoA) is functionally independent from APA - required by the Dept of Ed. The NYT piece was not clear. CoA made this decision due to concerns from accredited programs about changes in federal and state policies that were leading to changes in university programs.
