Amazing, thank you for sharing this treasure, your lucky students, Yale’s so fortunate to have you, I’d love to hear more, and always hooray for Linnaeus! etc etc!

Oh I love the wheelies too! Fearless and full of joy!
It’s a thing! It caught me off guard too. During pandemic they took over all lanes on Whitney Ave one day: mayhem! We are so glad you are here!
Photo of foggy woods, empty road, silhouettes of trees, and forsythia in bloom
Many things are horrible and the world is crashing but: first glimpse of forsythia on a foggy Easter morning!

Currently reading this remarkable book
One of my favourite sides of politics/media.
Not dumbassery! In my experience, the need to get poetry permissions is a surprise to most authors. Sometimes you end up with sweet personal notes from poets who happily grant permission!
Tonight’s screening of Itu Ninu reminded me of all the reasons we show films at @yalewhc.bsky.social Climate refugees in a dystopian and stark urban space, the power of letter-writing and (Mixtec) language, and even seeds as salvation from faceless authoritarians. 🌱
My heart is with Minneapolis, where I lived for ten years. I hated the bitter cold but loved my neighborhood, the Somali driving school in the elementary school parking lot, May Day parade, Longfellow, Powderhorn. This whole broken nation is with you, MN! 💪🏽🔥
A designer friend is working with students on a memorial for a potter’s field in a cemetery in rural Montana. So many intersecting things to consider in such an undertaking!
New Haven Green today, and in solidarity with all my Minneapolis people. With heavy hearts and enraged at the murder of Renée Good #ICEOutForGood

I just learned that my mom, pregnant with me and living on Staten Island, took my brothers down to watch construction on the Verrazano Narrows bridge every day. They moved west before it was completed so I now take on the family legacy of loving all NYC bridges!
Thanks for writing this! Solidarity ☕️
Pass it on! Tenured, associate professor position in Black and Latinx Studies--reopened until Jan 5. Includes research budget, summer salary, great program, colleagues, students in NYC. cuny.jobs/new-york-ny/...
Congratulations on All Of It! We are so fortunate to have you!
p.s. It turns out that TGS Napoleon (deux) edition was great red eye flight company! 😍
I will think of your fierce mom as I walk past the Whitney Ave Planned Parenthood 💪🏼
Thanks for sharing a bit about your remarkable mom, Rebecca. I know now firsthand what a badass departmental business manager can bring to people at Yale. I’m sorry I didn’t cross paths with her—my life surely would have been richer if I had. ❤️
What a lovely thing to read as 2025 comes to a close.
i post this story every christmas, and will keep doing so until it stops making me cry
merry christmas xx
Great advice!! My university library has around 40,000 DVDs that can be checked out! My cheap DVD player has opened my world in incredible ways. (I watched Bande à part recently in anticipation of Nouvelle Vague.)
Amazing postdoc opportunity at Yale.
If you are a supporter and reader of @contingent-mag.bsky.social one of the biggest things you can do to help us at the moment is get this CFP to the NTT folks in your life. The fracturing of social media has made it very difficult to get the word out esp. to adjuncts and VAPs.
We screened it at Yale this week, followed by a fantastic (and sobering) Q&A. Howard French, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Raoul Peck—it’s been a remarkable two weeks here!
We're all so grateful you made your way to New Haven! Apparently the persistent fly yesterday was grateful too! 🪰
I wanted to remind everyone about the "Save AIDS Research" livestream that will go live on YouTube this Tuesday (9/16) at 11:00am EDT. We have an amazing program of 70+ speakers who will be sharing their latest research. Get all the details at www.saveaidsresearch.org.
It should not be lost on anyone that Minnesota Rep Melissa Hortman, who was shot to death in her home last night by an assassin, was a gun safety advocate who worked tirelessly to protect her constituents from gun violence.
A street full of people holding signs protesting the current U.S. administration. A neogothic style building is in the background.
New Haven doing that New England thing of gathering on the town green to oppose tyrants. #NoKings
