I had a mid-00s power ballad stuck in my head today, considered if it could be translated into Elvish, and boom. Gender euphoria just knowing pronouns wouldn't matter. Anyone of any persuasion could sing it!

S2, E8: Background Music

As with Episode 7, Bear McCreary has not yet blogged about the finale for Season 2 as of the reposting of this Master Thread. This is a placeholder so I can reply with a link when he posts all his notes about the various language lyrics!

S2, E8: Glimpse of Imladris

The vale revealed at the finale's end is where Imladris will be built. In the books, Elrond is able to escape because of backup from the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm. We'll have to see how relations mend in Season 3.

Nothing brings me more joy than seeing Elves be sassy in adaptations. Tolkien wrote the Elves in The Lord of the Rings as having a sense of humor. Gil-Galad giving sass to his Auntie Galadriel gives me LIFE.

Love that we get to see Sauron actively use his shape-shifting ability! One background detail is that there is Ogham writing on the stones in the aftermath. I can't read it, but if anyone knows what it translates to, please share!

Look, I know you all wanna know, but with all the reverb, I can't parse this bit. I can only pick out things like Altáriel (the Quenya version of Galadriel's name)

Poignant that Adar has the appearance of a Noldo but deems his original name unimportant. He was likely of the Tatyar (2nd kindred of Elves), whether he was captured before or after leaving Cuiviénen.

Also, a moment of appreciation for the heartrending moment Sauron realizes he just killed the only one who truly understood him, simultaneously sealing his own fate.

He never called himself "Sauron" in-book. The "many names" refrain = ongoing identity crisis.
