Yes, I know personal days aren't connected to CPD for PP. I meant that in primary, the EPV (Extra Personal Vacation) days, often referred to as course days, are only available to teachers who have completed the required amount of summer courses. These can begin on or after the 1st of July. #edchatie

As far as I know, the post-primary equivalent are personal days. Up to 5 days but no substitute cover provided. We complete 3 x 20hr minimum course to get up to 5 days. Dependent on BOM and some schools have restrictions around when they can be taken, etc. #edchatie

I'm submitting a motion to INTO Congress again this year to ask that all Dept. approved CPD completed during the school year be counted towards EPV days. I believe such courses are chosen for genuine reasons. Summer courses tend to be chosen by many (not me obvs) solely for EPV days 😒 #edchatie

💯 Look at all the professions that fund CPD for their employees. It was my local Credit Union that enabled me to pay for Hibernia all those years ago. I believe the fee has doubled since then 😬 #edchatie

I make a point of keeping an updated Google doc tracking all of the CPD I do. I share it with my principal. I think it is important for CPD to be acknowledged and recognised in school. Even if it is as a result of me offering that information without being asked 😅 #edchatie

Yes, absolutely 🎯 Aside from the obvious advantages personally and professionally, what incentive is there to spend such a huge amount of our own money and time completing further education at this level?

I'm lucky enough to live in the town where our local education centre is situated. If I'm not attending courses in person, I'm online! I completed/attended over 40 online during our first lockdown. It was fantastic to be able to access so much knowledge and upskill when it was needed most. #edchatie
