I never tire of pointing out that multiple shows did "Oh, my old friend is trans? That's interesting!" episodes in the '70s and '80s, and while none of these hold up by modern representation standards, they're all quite good and accepting in a way you might not expect.

Trump has apparently just posted a video of a woman being murdered on his social media account.

I am not watching it and you shouldn’t either.

You should, however, call your reps and demand impeachment.

Every year, January to April, people accuse me of fearmongering in my reporting. Every year around this time, bills pass. And without fail, every year, the ratchet tightens.

And now Idaho just passed a bill that could put me in prison for years—for washing my hands in a bathroom.

Trans people can now get life in prison for going to the bathroom in Idaho.

We'll see if any cis people give a fuck or if they'll just shrug and say "sucks to be them" and go back to their Corn Flakes.

Epstein is the most garish and harrowing manifestation of this but oligarchy makes life miserable in a thousand other ways. A core point of democracy is that no one should have so much power that they can make themselves everybody's problem. We should have a political party that believes that

(and just to be extra clear, I think it's absolutely fine to say "I hate how that character arc ended"--where I think we lose the plot is when that morphs into "the creators hate abuse victims because they didn't wrap my comfort character in a blanket and give them hot cocoa at the end")

This is inspired by the responses to the ST finale, but also OFMD, Supernatural, etc. Listen, I love a happy ending! I want my favorite characters to thrive! And there are many choices in those I disagree with. But it's not inherently "problematic" to give a character a complicated or tragic ending.

3 months ago 22 1 2 0

So many modern fandoms seem to believe that characters who have experienced suffering are owed a happy/comfortable ending, and it's morally repugnant if they don't get one. I think this is anti-art! I don't agree that it's the responsibility of fiction to make sure everyone gets what they deserve.

This was entirely about purging a trans instructor from the school and they succeeded. It was aided by a lot of dumb liberals taking it at face value arguing the minutia of grading rubrics while ignoring the obvious bad faith efforts behind this.

Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe is saved from being the worst movie I've seen in 2025 by the fact that I also saw The Electric State but jesus, it should not be that close.

Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe - In Each Retelling December 16, 2025 is the 250th birthday of Jane Austen, and we at In Each Retelling are very very very sorry for celebrating this auspicious occasion with a film that fails as a not only an adaptation...

I don't normally post other people's podcast episodes when I appear on them (I save that for them and reposting) but this episode of @faeriviera.bsky.social's podcast was an absolute delight to be on.

Almost makes up for how agonizing the movie was.

I don't really post much anymore but I just have to give a big shoutout to @tonygoldmark.bsky.social because no joke, thanks to your cover of "We Will All Go Together When We Go", I was able to get a dear friend of mine out of a panic spiral.
