It's a tough call. Part of what we've found is that even with many more followers on X, without paying the company, we had zero organic reach. It simply doesn't seem to work as an organic social network today, just as Facebook no longer does.
This bill is deeply un-Canadian and a serious risk to our civil liberties. Please communicate with your MP and tell them to vote to ensure the bill never passes.
On the 13th of May, we'll be joining colleagues from the Internet Society and PACC-CCAP for a webinar to discuss everything wrong with #BillC22. Sign up and stay tuned!

Canada is edging toward a social media ban for youth and children, but the cure might come with its own complications. Before we trade one harm for another, we need to ask harder questions. Read our latest 👇 openmedia.org/article/item...
Quite frankly, neither Min Solomon, nor PM Carney have met the moment in maintaining the healthy dose of scepticism AI scientists & researchers themselves advocate for:

It's not a coincidence that the Liberals are burning through a lot of political capital trying to get this bill through. They know there will be a lot of resistance to their "nation building" projects and this bill is part of dismantling that resistance.

So Canadians. Looks like C-22 is far worse than c-2 and S209 are.
I suggest you call your reps NOW before the bill gains any groumd. Also follow the thread below.

🇨🇦 looked at 🇺🇸's surveillance problems and said: hold our beer.
#BillC22 is proposing far greater surveillance, and a permanent treasure of private Canadian data no other democracy demands.
It's wildly dangerous, and we need to shut it down, NOW!
openmedia.org/StopC22-bsky.
#BillC22 in theory does not force "systemic vulnerabilities"; but gov can explicitly reinterpret all terms at will by regulation.
Hollow by design.

And here's the worst part: #BillC22 requires keeping 1 year of your metadata. Who you called. Where you were. Which protest you attended. A comprehensive record of the life of every Canadian, ready for a warrant request from law enforcement, or a clever hacker:
