Diffusion MRI (dMRI) is a powerful tool to study white matter maturation. In our new preprint, we process and distribute a new resource of >24,000 ABCD dMRI scans using open source tools! We then evaluate how methods shape inferences about development.

A first for me: a paper I didn't write was published in a supposedly peer-reviewed journal I've never heard of with me as the sole named author. It's a bibliometric analysis of a field that I have done some work in, so there's a plausible connection, but that's not me.

We think of white matter as the highways of the brain. But when we followed development along those highways, we were surprised. The journey is more complex than we thought. My final PhD paper, โ€œTwo Axes of White Matter Developmentโ€, is now out in @natcomms.nature.com! ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ๐Ÿง โœจ

Where was this published? I believe it's an editorial at a Nature/Springer journal based on the font/layout, but which one? Do you have a link to the original?

This is a fantastic interview in which a 300-page book is summarized into 15 minutes of (very fast!) talking. What I really came here to ask though is whether "asshole to appetite" is an existing idiom, or did CD make that up?

Scaling back DEI programmes and the loss of scientific talent Nature Cell Biology - Programmes that support diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in science are under attack in the USA. Data indicate that diversity in the scientific workforce increases...

@joann-trejo.bsky.social, @marymunson4.bsky.social and I have a commentary in @natcellbio.nature.com on recent attacks on DEI in biomedical research: "If scientific research, especially biomedical research, is meant to serve everyone, then it requires that everyone has an opportunity to participate"

Y'all set a very high bar in terms of the empathy you bring to your interactions with stakeholders (in the sense of being able to consider their viewpoint). The balance with "foundational contributions" really sets you apart in this ecosystem (and I'd hope gives you a "competitive edge"!)

We've been experimenting and improving our practices in building healthy relationships with open source communities, here's our latest thinking on how we approach this important topic!

Yes, but there are details. Maybe best discussed on an issue or on neurostars?

Yeah, the intonation is somehow a bit weird and the graphics are ... what they are. But it also looks like it mostly got the gist of it, and many correct details, so altogether not bad. Thanks for sharing!
