When I think about it more, I don’t even see the current popular music scene (that I don’t even listen to anyway) as “omg vocaloid is now SLOP music” but I see it as “lots of people are trying to make the next Hit by using what’s popular”

you never really know why someone likes the Vocaloid they do. I like Hio because I very much relate to his character concept and no other Vocaloid character hits the same and you can be like “um there’s other people with the same voice type” THERE’S NO OTHER EMO BOY WITH A MONSTER FAMILY OKAY
No because I think about it like if someone said to me “you should stop liking yohioloid and like (popular character) instead” I would punch them in the face so why would I do that to someone else yk 😭😭😭
Even when people like super popular characters and not Obscure Vocal Synth from the 1900s, I don’t really care tbh. What brings them joy doesn’t affect me 🤷
As a vocaloid fanartist and someone who very occasionally attempts production and cover works, I indeed have a lot of empathy for vocaloid producers and artists lol. I don’t see them as faceless parts of Some Giant Thing. They are just people who like Vocaloid to me
I actually don’t listen to new popular Vocaloid music because a lot of it just doesn’t really appeal to me, but I don’t really see anything wrong with it because again, I see songs as “individual artists’ works” and not content of “The Vocaloid Community Machine”
The character arguments (“oldgen fans when you say your favorite character is (popular character) and not (old unpopular character) from 1836” argument) is also really interesting to me 😭😭 I don’t really care about that stuff anymore either. I don’t need to care. Just do your own thing 😀👍
I think it’s the music and producer discourse and arguments that get me the most because personally I just see every producer as Some Person Who Makes Songs so it’s really interesting when people assign “new” “popular” and “obscure” labels to them because me personally idc about that stuff 😭😭
