That's ridiculous by the airline, and would not have been prevented no matter how early you got to the airport.

I also missed a flight once for almost the same reason, my first leg was delayed for crew rest time, causing a missed connection. Was rebooked later for no cost. 20 years ago though.

You've pointed out that social media affects perceptions more than reality.

My working idea would be that perceptions of the economy are driven by medium term price stickiness, more than current inflation or wage growth, and amplified by social media, where people complain about specific prices.

I also agree that I don't know what most groceries cost, but I am more aware of some things, like restaurant meals. Had a burger last night for $17 that probably costs $14 5 years ago. That's more than baseline inflation.

It *feels* expensive, and probably will for a few more years.

I don't think it takes a decade to perceptually normalize prices, but it takes more than a year, which is why I suggested 5 years, but there's no hard cutoff. It's probably different at different ages as well.

So even though inflation is normal, recent price hikes have not yet been normalized in our brains, and it still feels like high inflation.

I think we need a measure of perceptual inflation that is something like how much have prices increased over last 5 years relative to 2% baseline.

I think the cumulative inflation might be overlooked.

High inflation mid-Biden followed by return to normal inflation means a permanent price hike. Without an extended period of below average inflation we can't get prices back to the normal inflation curve projected out from say 2021.

I thought of a game every Dem should play when discussing Trump: Liar or Idiot.

Start by calling him out as a Liar. Say how ridiculous and blatant the lie is. Then offer a possible alternative, that he's simply the world's biggest idiot to actually believe what he says.

Would apply to so much.

Beer is an acquired taste, and IPAs are a further acquired taste within beer. Millions of people aren't faking.

Just be happy we have the options we have. The beer scene today is *so* much better than it was, say, 25 years ago.

Do wish there were more brown ales though.

Stunted Gravity has had in-game Option menus for a while, but now these same options are available in the Garage menu before starting gameplay.

The track looks 4-sided, but it's actually one continuous side! Each lap runs on the next "side".

The goal: complete as many laps as possible while dodging the trail. By lap 5 the track is crowded and the challenge really picks up!
