As I see, several things are true:
1) Over the past 45 years, wage growth for middle has been halting at best
2) Last 10 years has produced better wage growth than the previous 35, largely because we've had tighter labor markets
3) We're at risk of losing this: last month, price growth>wage growth.

It looks like Dutch government will avoid the unbearable dumbness of lowering fuel taxes amid a supply crisis! More sensible measures include compensating kilometers driven for work, support for low income households, and more subsidies for insulating homes.

Wow - beyond the change discussed in the first thread, it seems like the Commission is proposing a major change for subsidising electricity for industry: indirect emission cost (Strompreiskompensation) & CISAF electricity price relief (Industriestrompreis) could be used jointly for up to 50%! (1/3)
But as argued in my policy brief: the Industriestrompreis is far from optimal - subsidies can be spent more wisely, and other member states shouldn't emulate the German scheme. (5/5)

Reagan’s Allies of Hate
"President Jimmy Carter tried to call attention to Reagan’s ties to extremists. But the political press accused Carter of being mean and divisive. Reagan’s courtship of Southern racists and religious fanatics never became a major issue, and he beat Carter decisively."

Corruption trickles down. A society where corruption at the highest levels is blatant, normalized, and winked at tends to become a society in which ordinary people are not only dishonest, but view honesty as a trait of saps and fools too dimwitted to see how the world works.
When all this is over, I'll keep coming back to the fact that the US both 1) un-sanctioned Iranian oil and 2) blocked Iranian oil exports within a 30-day period as the best encapsulation of the strategic incoherence of this whole war.
Yeah, I think it is good Orban is out for now, but it was a long time, and the political landscape reflects the damage done.
BOOM!
South Australia's power prices have plummeted as they near 100% renewables, proving to the world that relying on wind and solar with battery back-up is possible, more reliable and costs people less.
THIS is how we avoid the next oil crisis.

I think less of the people, even some of his coalition support his corruption, because it is against 'his own' than they do anything his government does against others. It is just that they, like him, want to remain in power so they keep a blind eye.
It's not just that Orbán losing inspires hope in other competitive-autocratic countries ruled by right-wing nationalist authoritarians. It's that his loss materially changes things in those other countries, because he's been operating as a headquarters and funding source...

I find it kinda astonishing all these people who have spent so many years in public life, many of them media/ PR pros, didn’t think to get ahead of these stories. Did they really think it’d never come out? Bowles & Weiss never thought to mention it to ‘Free Press’ subscribers?
Rutte and many idiots speak as if Europe was responsible for the dependency on US. For decades the US did not accept other countries building up armies or building weapons they had to buy from US. US profited absurdly and still does, viewing all the F jets sold to EU
