Don’t mention the c-word! A searing heatwave is the top story across Australian media, but none of our political leaders dare to say that climate change is driving it, and it seems (almost) no journalist dares to ask them. Time to stop being polite and say the c-word out loud.

Nanna trip to the Kimberley Nanna Kathy visited northern Australia recently and was keen to learn about the environmental issues facing the communities there. This week we are focusing on the Martuwarra Fitzroy River in the K…

We thought Nanna Kathy was having a holiday in the Kimberley’s. Wrong. Instead she sought out #ClimateAction defenders who opened her 👀 to environmental battles across the north west of Australia. Rarely reported news on Australia’s richest woman. Share!

Voices arguing that climate action is a waste of time are getting louder. Here’s why they are wrong | Clear Air Optimism may be hard to come by, but the evidence shows some progress on emissions is not just possible – it’s happening before our eyes

Optimism may be hard to come by but evidence shows some progress on emissions is happening before our eyes. It’s hard to overstate how much there is to be done. But don’t believe self-interested arguments that action is impossible, or will be for nothing. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

hate to keep going around in circles and blowing hot air on this point (sorrrryyyy) but wind power is very, very vital in a fully decarbonised energy system and you can't just let it fail and say 'just build more solar'

It is having a comeback of sorts - but it still needs much more support!!

Deadly algal bloom in South Australia’s Coorong an environmental ‘eye opener’, ecologist says Among the dead in the internationally significant wetland are estuarine snails, shore crabs, baby flounder and ‘a thick stew of polychaete worms’ after high tides swept the algae

Professional fisherman Gary Hera-Singh has been fishing the Coorong for 41 years. The Millenium Drought was bad enough; but the toxic algal bloom driven by climate change and warming oceans is worse. The Coorong is sicker than Hera-Singh has ever seen it.

Chart showing Woodside met its 2023-24 Safeguard Mechanism target by buying offset, not reducing emissions AT ALL

Chart showing Woodside met its 2023-24 Safeguard Mechanism target by buying offset, not reducing emissions AT ALL

Excellent work by @ketanjoshi.co in his first #OffTheCharts for us pointing out that the Safeguard Mechanism just safeguards gas companies from having to worry about reducing emissions

When nice isn’t working: Rethinking climate advocacy under a Labor government — campaign-republic.com After Labor’s recent election win, many in the climate and environment space breathed a sigh of relief. The Coalition and its nuclear fantasy were resoundingly rejected. In its place, a government tha...

There's "a false perception that Labor values the environment movement & its endorsement. In reality, Labor only wants to neutralise it. [..] They want to be able to name-drop supportive organisations in press conferences, but they’re far less willing to adopt those same groups’ policy proposals"
