Excited to join the Wollaston Research Seminar next month to share some ongoing research on the TDNT. My paper, “Translating Kittel’s Wörterbuch: A Bourdieusian Analysis,” examines correspondence between M Barth, W Eerdmans Jr, and G Bromiley through the lens translation studies.
Finalising the proofs of my next article, coming very soon in the Journal of Biblical Literature.
Check it: latest issue of the Journal for the Historical Jesus has just dropped.
This gorgeously detailed piece shows a section of sea completely dominated by marine life of different types including fish, eels, and cephalopods. It was found in a house in Regio VIII.2.16 at Pompeii and is now held by the MAN Napoli (inv. 120177).
It’s #MosaicMonday and we’re taking a dip in the sea to freshen up with this marine life mosaic from Pompeii. It’s possible to identify the different species including the central tussle between an Octopus vulgaris (common octopus) and a Palinurus vulgaris (European spiny lobster).

Re: Jordan Peterson's references to the Terminator franchise & the Bible. I forgot to mention I actually published an article on the Terminator (specifically the Sarah Connor Chronicles) & the Bible over 10 years ago which may help to explain things... relegere.org/relegere/art...
I'll be chatting with @benburgis.bsky.social and Robert Myles about Peterson's new book. Review for @jacobinmag.bsky.social forthcoming

I've made the mistake of starting watching this shit.
Looking on from an increasingly irreligious Australia, it is Interesting how the Bible persists as a site of struggle for the wider culture -- not just Christians.

I tend to see book proposals as different to journal articles in that it is (generally speaking) okay to approach multiple publishers, as long as you're transparent etc with them about that.
I'm still waiting to hear back about a book proposal I submitted to a publisher 3 years ago and has since been published with someone else!
