Promise it wasn't me.

I went to wake someone and they asked me to give them 15 more minutes to finish a dream they were having. Do dreams work that way for you? They never have for me.

That’s a good question, but like many, I often wonder if Stacey actually would have wanted to be a quarter, and what that decision means.

Trump administration will require SNAP participants to reapply for benefits The move is part of USDA chief Brooke Rollins’ effort to overhaul the nation’s largest anti-hunger program and get rid of “fraud.”

This would seem like a logistical nightmare to coordinate, especially with the number of government employees that are no longer available to do this work, but we can't forget that cruelty and ineptitude go hand in hand.

This would also be my choice, unless you are looking for a peanut butter substitute entirely?

Always fun and bureaucratic and not wasteful at all to receive a letter in the mail from a municipal agency that is titled:

Acknowledgement of Agreement to Receive Paperless Notices

Context: Cuomo was the governor of the state and in charge of the Division of Housing and Community Renewal. He should know the difference between rent control and rent stabilization. He was governor when income-based deregulation was repealed by the legislature under a bill HE signed into law.

Far from Hollywood's wealth, Los Angeles fire survivors feel forgotten — Reuters In the close-knit Los Angeles suburb of Altadena, where rows of neat bungalows once nestled in the shadow of the San Gabriel Mountains, smoldering ruins and the skeletal frames of burnt-out cars now l...

So glad this is getting coverage. Altadena is not Malibu or Palisades. Black and Latino families have lived there for generations. Now they’re concerned that gov resources will be channeled to wealthier LA areas where many celebs reside. www.reuters.com/world/us/far...

As I was waiting for an elevator down to a subway station, a group of teens walked by shouting that they wanted my wheelchair, and calling me Timmy (like South Park). My feelings remained a jumble of annoyed, overheated, almost amused, and mostly… tired. I can only hope they grow out of it. 🤷🏻

Did you know?

For the audiobook version of this new anthology, I got to record two excellent essays, as part of a full cast of narrators.

(If you listen, can you figure out which essays I narrated?)

A possibly overlooked FYI for iPhone/iOS users:

In the most recent update (iOS 17), when you add someone to your contacts, there are finally fields to add someone's pronouns, as applicable.

(On computers, this is also the case in the latest release of the macOS, Sonoma AKA 14.)

If anyone is in touch with the author or the publication, this is really worth addressing.

ACCESS NOTE: I think this is an important perspective to share. However, most of the content has been illustrated in the style of a comic, and does not appear to have alt-text or image descriptions available, making it inaccessible to many folks.

Screenshot of a Facebook post by Alejandra reads:

Just a reminder:

While having to use a wheelchair (or other mobility device) is generally seen as a sign of illness/disability/decline...

Especially if it is a new part of someone's daily life...

And using it may or may not be reversible, or even consistent...

NO ONE is "confined" to a wheelchair.

No one, anywhere, ever.

By definition and function, a wheelchair is a device for mobility.

While someone may or may not be in a place to view wheelchairs as tools for freedom and/or independence, that is also something that they ARE, and more people should think of them that way.

And unless something is very wrong, a wheelchair user DOES leave their wheelchair one way or another, so they are not literally confined to it, either.
