I used Claude to vibe-code my wildly overcomplicated smart home Home On.

"since I unleashed Claude in my smart home via Home Assistant, I can finally see a future where everything just works, and I want that future now"

Very interesting and insightful! I will feature it in this week's issue of The Smart Home Newsletter 🙌

Congratulations, you passed level 1! Now make it dependent on your location, so you need only one tile 😋

Fair take on the UI. That said, a well-set-up smart home barely needs the UI day-to-day.
If the frustration is with assistant responses: LLM integration helps a lot. If that’s already in place… yeah, something’s wrong 🙂

Yeah that’s totally fine. I meant custom components like card-mod or browser-mod. Those tend to break with updates. Button card is very flexible but will cost a lot of time to get right.

Warning: that rabbit hole is DEEP. 😅

Stick with default cards. They’re solid now and you won’t have to rebuild your dashboard every time a custom component breaks or css changes. (Now if only tile cards supported templates like mushroom does… 😫)

Having watched enough of these projects unfold: this escalated exactly as expected 😅

Sure, should I rename my newsletter to the Haunted Home Newsletter as well? 😋

And yes, mqtt is a simple protocol but can still be tricky... Good detective skills!

To be fair, rebooting is the first thing you try with anything Windows-related 😋

What a coincidence! All I can tell you is that I own an old Roborock which I really appreciate. It's cloud-dependent though..

But I have the voice PE, and when that one starts pronouncing markdown... 😅

Bloody annoying when your smart home assistant starts talking in Markdown…

Nice! I hope this was for the video and you can hide the device on the other side of the curtain? Which brand is it?

But now you're looking for a new vacuum 😊

Nine staff members, including six judges and the ICC's chief prosecutor, have been sanctioned by U.S. President Donald Trump for pursuing investigations into officials from the U.S. and Israel, which aren't among The Hague court's 125 member states.
Typically reserved for autocrats, crime bosses and the like, the sanctions can be devastating. They prevent the ICC officials and their families from entering the United States, block their access to even basic financial services and extend to the minutiae of their everyday lives.
The court's top prosecutor, British national Karim Khan, had his bank accounts closed and his U.S. visa revoked, and Microsoft even canceled his ICC email address. Canadian judge Kimberly Prost, who was named in the latest round of sanctions in August, immediately lost access to her credit cards, and Amazon's Alexa stopped responding to her.
"Your whole world is restricted," Prost told The Associated Press last week.

Lmao, the ICC judges illegally sanctioned by the US had their bank account frozen, emails closed and.... "Their amazon alexa stop responding to them".
