My bad, I started watching the last Mission Impossible movie.
The problem with making your mission impossible movie 80 hours long is that you have to keep repeating yourself for the audience to remember what’s happening. I assume.
Sure, but when *I* do it I just hear "Turn the lights on, dear, they're both grey."
It’s no Beekeeper or Bricklayer, but I enjoyed it.
I feel like this works best when the person you're speaking to is not named Trevor.

Ever wonder ~why~ so many Western stories about samurai all tell you a story about someone who really, really, really likes honor? Where did that come from? And why is it so pervasive? What are samurai movies really about?

This bit in the From Russia With Love game made me laugh out loud. You've got a fairly grounded, low key fight based on the one in the movie, then the most video game looking fucker of all time slides into frame.
As far as I understand, they never have been?
It is not fair that I need to go to sleep and @noahgervais.bsky.social drops a new video essay on Pillars of Eternity/Avowed!
Morning.
This cover did indeed make me pick up, purchase, read, and then continue reading McCaffrey's books. Just stunning.

I’ve found that a significant source of my finding interesting things from “before my time” has been parody/comedy references. Weird Al polkas, Looney Tunes, The Simpsons, Calvin and Hobbes, all gave me keys to find things that seemed neat through the amusement.
No game intro has ever made me more excited to play the game. This intro has lived in my head since '96.
I hate AI almost as much as I hate ICE. I write about stuff on my reader-supported blog, and this one's been getting shared around again lately, so I figured, hey, I've got a really big $350 doctor's visit cost coming up.

I loved Fireball Island. I kept the gameboard for years after losing all the pieces, just cause I thought it was so cool.
"You have...THIRTY...minutes until *I* take over!"...I really enjoyed that one!

Big fan of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. since finding them in the back of an OMNI Comix years ago. Interesting characters and limitations, imo. Found a couple collected volumes recently to read over the holidays...quite a treat!
Or just strip that back to a single character & set piece & let the performance take it away. What comes out in this performance, of a tune that is not a well-known Top 40 hit, is Jim Henson’s affection for it. His affection for it transfers to the audience. It welcomes an audience in...
I credit Tracer Bullet with my love for film noir, and hardboiled detective stories in general. I went looking for what it was referencing because it seemed cool, even with it's silliness.
Bill Watterson could do Sin City but Frank Miller could not do Calvin and Hobbes
The anthology by and about The Bachelor fandom that I've worked on for five years is available for pre-order in that big B&N sale, and I'd love it if you pre-ordered it there or elsewhere! It was a huge and lengthy labor of love and I'm so proud of it.
