It seems we just bombed some residential buildings in an attempt to kill a former diplomat who was trying to facilitate negotiations.

A civilian trying to *end* hostilities, surrounded by other civilians in their homes.

We are completely lost.

If the UAE enters the war, Australia needs to pull it's E7 out straight away. It was there for a purpose to protect civilians, and energy infrastructure in third party nations. If you're not a third party, mission should be over.

Just caught up with Albo's gambling ad restrictions - what a cop out. Just f**king ban them!
Exactly the same as tobacco advertising, just harms the community. Pathetic.

Every week the federal government delays a 25% gas export tax costs the Australian public around $350 million in revenue.

That's $350 million a week that could have gone to funding essential services!

Glad to hear it. I was freaking out and thought other people might be too. Chatting to Richard and Matt helped me put things in perspective a little better.

It’s not OK, it’s just reality. Low income earners will bear the brunt of this price shocks
But we did want to address a lot of questions we could see people had about the likelihood of rationing and shortages.

1/Helpful piece on how 🇦🇺's philanthropic Private Ancillary Funds work

Turns out a donor can put $1M into a PAF & claim an immediate tax deduction. The Govt gives up the tax revenue straight away. But at a min distribution of 5%/yr, it can take ~15 yrs before charities receive an equiv amount of $$🤯

We have so far missed out on $68,183,006,739.12 dollars in revenue had the Albanese govt put in place a 25% gas export tax when it came to office in 2022

If the govt had brought in a 25% tax on gas exports when it came to power in 2022 it would have raised $68bn by now and the missed revenue is growing every second.

Outrageous that an artist in Australia, who makes a living from his creative output, can be threatened with arrest and imprisonment for using a phrase with - at best - contested meaning.
This is normal under authoritarian regimes.
