We really have seen such a huge increase in cycling in East Oxford. These two green circled roads, running parallel, now have around 2.5k bikes per day.

Really recommend telraam traffic counters (community powered!) to track traffic.

Lower Thames Crossing plan for Essex and Kent is approved - BBC News The 14-mile (22.5km) road will link the A2 and M2 in Kent with the A13 and M25 in Essex.

£9 billion for 14 miles of road. You could make a huge difference with that kind of sum nationally if you spent it on active travel. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Just remembering when @adamtranter.bsky.social put a parklet on a small roadworthy truck and parked it legally in the space where the council had removed a previous "illegal" parklet.

With the spine already in place—a spectacular 6km seafront route—Limassol is developing a series of "green avenues" reserved for walking and cycling.

Three concentric half-circles of 4km, 8km, and 13km will link the city’s neighbourhoods with a parallel network of mobility and green infrastructure.

Valeriusplein, Amsterdam in 1984 and today. Motor traffic can no longer drive through the arches underneath this school, now it is a cycling / walking only route, with a very busy crossing to get to it

Why do men bike more than women in many countries?

A new study from Spain shows that the construction of a connected network of high-quality protected bike lanes helps to close this gender gap.

When we fail to build protected bike lanes, we keep women from riding bikes.

Cycling home from work is such a great way to destress. The steady motion, the fresh air, and the quiet rhythm of the ride help shake off the day’s stress. The cool breeze and the changing scenery make the commute feel less like a routine and more like a well-earned reset.

In the NL and Denmark, 55% of cycling trips are by women, but in unsafe road environments, men dominate. The issue lies in policies, infrastructure, and culture. TandEM Women in Cycling empowers women with skills, confidence, and community to drive change.

£120 million to roll-out more electric vans, taxis and motorbikes We are making it easier, faster and cheaper for people across the UK to switch to electric vehicles.

Councillors! Does your council procurement award points for using EV cars and vans?

Oxfordshire does and it’s helping drive the shift to electric.

Govt investing more in EV vans, quite rightly.

We've flagged the dangers with Cheapside since 2016, it's a miracle no one’s been killed. The wait has been long, but these BCC road layout changes mean 2025 should bring a safer junction and fewer crashes. These dangers can be engineered out - we just need the will…

Good to meet with @bradford-street.bsky.social for a tour of the Cheapside city centre cell being implemented.

Removing through traffic is going to make such a difference to this increasingly residential area.

Paris turned roads for cars into streets for school kids and it’s a great lesson in priorities Paris is putting families first.

Definitely a choice. What Paris is doing about this issue isn't because they have so much money. It's because leaders there decided that people getting run over and breathing exhaust in front of schools was actually worse than car owners being inconvenienced. Sadly, authorities in the UK disagree.

My hijab, my bike, and my smile are all part of who I am.

One of the worst Gormless Gaps I know. Looks how the barrier slashes into the pedestrian space so that motorists are freed from having to drive carefully. And look at the cities we've got thanks to not expecting people to drive carefully

One of the most important things to remember about very smart financial, public heath, transportation, public space, equity, economic development and climate policy like this is that it SAVES AND MAKES PUBLIC MONEY AND IS A SMART INVESTMENT WITH A PROVEN ROI.

Stop seeing it as a cost.
