It isn't a one size fits all but once I see how someone responds, I know how to take it where we need to be.
I need to get you from A to B in the most effective way possible because when you get to B you will love me more than if I tell you what you WANT to hear instead of what you NEED to hear.

I have done almost 800 1:1 mentoring calls, and thousands of other interactions over the years.
With some folks, positive planning and guidance leads to the end goal.
With some, anger and outrage puts a fire in their belly that make them persistent and consistent.

100%. Social engineering attempts are going to continue to rise with AI and all it takes is one slip.
With the NPM hacks, you have lead maintainers falling for them.
People many would easily consider to be extremely savvy and vigilant still fall for it.
Have to be more cautious than ever before.
Hey G, I get it. Y'all probably have a lot going on today with this so no hate. Just sharing it here to help make sure people see it.
This goes into something we talked about on the podcast. With AI, social engineering attempts are going to rise dramatically.
I appreciate y'all being on top of it.
Post from Vercels Twitter account. "We’ve identified a security incident that involved unauthorized access to certain internal Vercel systems, impacting a limited subset of customers. Please see our security bulletin:"
Vercel hasn't posted this on Bluesky yet but they have a very significant security leak.
Welp, there goes my Sunday. Damn it man.
If you have anything hosted on Vercel, take action now.

New York!! It's been fun but time to head back home to Dallas.
Next trip in two weeks to Anaheim! After that Sydney, Australia! Then San Francisco and Seattle.
Going to be a busy couple months.
A group of people had to meet up some walking around, some having conversation, some eating pizza
To everyone that came out tonight and online, Thank you. The meetup tonight was ABSOLUTELY incredible. From folks cheering to technical moments where people learned, thank you.
Will have more photos coming out soon!
Attended A Night of Enterprise AI @atlassian.bsky.social NYC
Learned about Forge, Rovo, & that best ideas dont fail on execution, they fail on capture from @bytesofbree.bsky.social, Reign Nelson, & @dthompsondev.bsky.social
Met a lot of lovely new folks, familiar faces, & ate yummy pizza & soda~
Also yes, I snuck me some M&Ms for the walk back to the hotel 😂

Flew from Dallas to the Atlassian office in NYC for the meetup we are doing tomorrow! 250 RSVPs between online and in person!
A Night of Enterprise AI!
Not only are we sold out but the DMs to get in!! 🤯 Unfortunately we can't! New York and Venue space is difficult!
Since AI seems to make everything appealing and their stocks successful can we make Universal Healthcare for all... WITH AI! 🤔
YOU TOO?!? Thought it was just me! I feel like that would just break all revenue models!
I will be breaking down and teaching Enterprise AI and it's usage, not the type of AI usage you see people talk about online where it one shots some random app.
In person is completely full, no availability left unfortunately, but you can attend virtually!

Large group photo at my last AI meetup in Dallas
This week I am in NYC for our meetup and I spent weeks on this talk. I literally poured EVERYTHING into it.
For my Demo, You send a voice message with Whatsapp, use Twilio to send it to OpenAI to transcribe, Using Atlassian Forge to create a Jira ticket then Rovo AI to refine it like a PM! 😎
밥 먹었어요? (Bap meok-eoss-eo-yo?)
Literal Translation
Did you eat rice? (Or: Did you have a meal?)
Contextual Meaning:
How are you? / Are you doing well?
That is what happened today lol. That's what helped me figure it out. I thought they were asking about Dinner but they were asking how I was lol
I know Google translate is using more Gemini lately but the big difference is going from Literal to Contextual translations.
It's giving me so much more of a detailed and valuable translation where the context could be lost.
For example
⤵️
This right here let me have a full blown conversation, including humor and jokes, that we literally could never have had before and I'm just sitting here now reflecting on it and in awe.
It freaked them out at first but it was so good at translating back and forth but the AI would even ask clarifying questions to them before translation just so I could get the full picture.
I told Gemini to not just translate Korean to English but to translate contextually instead of literal translations.
I have relatives staying with us for 2 weeks from Korea. They don't speak English.
GAME CHANGER! The conversation we just had over dinner was SO GOOD! My mind is blown.
His code had a multi-step workflow, data persistence across 8 database tables, form versioning with revision control, and a data compaction strategy to work around platform constraints.
But all he wrote about were those reusable components.
Your resume is probably lying about you in the wrong ways
I Reviewed a Junior Software Developers Resume Then Read Their Actual Code on GitHub.
It Wasn't Even Close.
Their resume said "created reusable frontend components."

You are Absolutely right!
The WORST thing AI can do isn't failing.
It's succeeding at giving you exactly the WRONG thing, brilliantly formatted.
The laugh I laughed woke both of my cats up and have them looking at me in the worst way.
My brother in Jira?! Genuinely hilarious.
1000% I am going to be using that.
Prompting is typing. Architecture is thinking. Software Developers stop confusing the two. The best developers I know don't prompt better. They constrain better.
Nope. Just me. Some of the platforms really hate automation and could cause a reason for it to be an account takedown, like LinkedIn. So I just post it myself.
Success is made in the boring details.
So I heard @dthompsondev.bsky.social and @leonnoel.bsky.social spilled the beans 🫘 about override commands 👀 on the latest episode yall should check it out!
